16 Jan 2025 at approximately 1803 hours Sgt. Parks met with an individual who had received text message(s) from Katrina S. Dutton. Dutton had previously been advised to cease contact with the individual by the Sheriff’s Office on 16 Oct 2024 and 13 Nov 2024. A summons is being requested through Marietta Municipal Court for Katrina S. Dutton, age 42, 3705 Cats Creek Road, Macksburg, OH.
16 Jan 2025 deputies responded to the Dollar General, 4530 State Route 339 in Dunham Township in an attempt to locate Matthew Root. Root had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, and was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail. Deputies observed multiple Stihl chainsaws, a civil war era sword and drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle Root was seated in at the time. A search warrant was prepared and executed on 21 Jan 2025 for the vehicle and located were 4 Stihl chain saws (valued over $7500.00) and a Carhart cup holder. These items were reported as stolen from a neighboring county on or about 14 Jan 2025. Matthew Kevin Root, age 39, 23796 Township Road 119, Coolville, OH, was charged with receiving stolen property.

Darin Michael Craig, age 29, Marietta, OH, parole violation, a felony.
John Anthony Zimmer, age 25, Waterford, OH, theft without consent, breach of recognizance and obstructing justice, harboring, all misdemeanors.
Thomas Gale Little, age 34, St. Mary’s, WV, probation violation, a misdemeanor.
Robert Scott Wingrove, age 60, Little Hocking, OH, 2 counts passing bad checks, both felonies.
Corey Thomas Sapp Jr., age 34, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a felony.
John Richard Southwick, age 52, Fleming, OH, driving under suspension, a misdemeanor.
There are currently 24 women and 93 men incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
