
Public Record Requests
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office provides access to its records in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 149.43., revised September 30, 2025.
You are entitled to review and/or obtain copies of available records, subject to certain exceptions. Not available for review as public records are those that are required by Federal or State Law to remain confidential.
Please note that although you are not required to fill out a form or provide your name, we may be unable to fulfill requests without some means of contacting you. If you wish to request public records without providing such information, please consider an alternative method.
***Be advised that in Ohio, a new law (House Bill 315) allows law enforcement agencies to charge the public for the cost of preparing and producing body-worn camera footage, up to a maximum of $750 per request ($75 per hour). The fees cover costs like retrieving, reviewing, and redacting the video, but critics argue that this creates a financial barrier to accessing police records and hinders transparency.
