14 Apr 2025 Sgt. Painter, while patrolling the 800 block of Pike Street, Marietta, OH, observed a vehicle making a left hand turn onto Pike Street, Marietta, OH, from the north bound exit ramp of I-77 at the traffic light. As Sgt. Painter followed the vehicle, he noted the license plate light on the vehicle was not illuminated. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, bearing OH registration. While speaking with the driver, it was noted that the rear passengers were in fact Darren Farnese and Shasta Farnese. Peters and K-9 Timmy were dispatched to the scene to conduct a free air sniff. K-9 Timmy gave a positive indication on the rear of the vehicle. All occupants were removed from the vehicle and detectives began searching the vehicle. Shasta Farnese produced a small baggie from her person. Shasta stated the drugs, she believed, were heroin. Also discovered was that Farnese had asked Shasta to conceal the drugs. Shasta then produced a small folded up ball of foil. Darren Farnese denied any knowledge of the drugs, however later indicated the two did obtain the drugs. The TPW (total package weight) of the fist surrendered item being 6.84 grams and the second surrendered item being 2.37 grams. Darren Craig Farnese, age 30, and Shasta Danyelle, age 24, 27335 SR 7, Marietta, OH, were both placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs.
