564 Grams of Methamphetamine Seized (1.2 lbs.)
20 Feb 2025 Sheriff Warden reported that on 19 Feb 2025 a joint investigation was conducted by Agents with the Parkersburg Task Force and detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. A traffic stop was conducted by a Belpre Police Department patrolman on a black Jeep Cherokee. During the investigation the driver was identified as driver, Jamison Hughes, and front seat passenger, Timothy Copley. Criminal indicators were observed and Det. Peters utilized K-9 Timmy to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle, giving a positive indication.
Subsequently, a probable cause search was conducted during which time approximately 564 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of crack cocaine, and $1,400 in US currency was located.
As a result, Jamison Leigh Hughes, age 38, 13599 Stot Road, Logan, OH, and Timothy Duane Copley, age 59, 2581 Pine Marsh Avenue, Grove City, OH, were arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail. Both Hughes and Copley were charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs and aggravated possession of drugs, both 1st degree felonies.
Hughes and Copley remained incarcerated in the Washington County Jail until their initial appearance in Marietta Municipal Court on 20 Feb 2025. Copley is now being held on PR plus $75,000 bond and Hughes is being held on PR plus $50,000 bond.
