Traffic Stop Leads to 2 Arrests

28 Jan 2025 Detective Peters was stationary along I77 at the 10 mile marker when a 4 door vehicle was observed traveling southbound with dark window tint. No occupants able to be seen and a traffic stop was conducted, finding the operator of the vehicle to be Daekwan A. Sanders.  Sanders and the front seat passenger, Richard McCallister, both appeared to be nervous while speaking with Detective Peters. 

A consent to search was requested and Sanders advised yes.  2 bags of Doritos were located in a grocery bag, sealed up.  Detective Peters opened both bags and located 2 clear baggies of suspected methamphetamine.  The total weight of those two bags was 1 pound (452 grams) of methamphetamine.

Daekwan Allen Sanders, age 21, 1793 Gaylord Drive, Akron, OH, and Richard Lakaile McCallister, age 24, 557 Elbon Avenue, Akron, OH, were both placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs, both 1st degree felonies.

Sanders and McCallister appeared in Marietta Municipal Court on 29 Jan 2025. Sanders and McCallister appeared in Marietta Municipal Court on 29 Jan 2025.  Sanders is being held on $125,000 bond and McCallister is being held on $150,000 bond.
