25 Jan 2024 Deputy Wallace responded to a reported domestic incident in Waterford Township.  No domestic violence was found to have occurred.

25 Jan 2024 the jail staff met a Marietta PD officer who was bringing in Kevin Ford on an outstanding warrant. CO Oliver received Ford from the officer and Ford was advised of conveyance rules before being searched. While performing a pat search of Ford, CO Oliver located a 1×1 clear baggie containing a light purple powdery substance, resembling fentanyl and methamphetamine.  Deputy Wallace responded to the jail to take possession of the evidence.  Kevin Ford, age 53, 27150 SR 7, Marietta, OH, was charged with conveyance of drugs into a detention facility. 

26 Jan 2024 while patrolling the area of Fort Harmar Drive and Pearl Street Extension,  Pioneer Township, Sgt. Stillson observed a blue Chevrolet bearing Ohio Registration commit a lane of travel offense while traveling in the left lane on a 4 lane highway. While travelling in the left lane, the driver travelled across the center line into the right lane then back into the left lane all without using any kind of signal. A traffic stop revealed the driver and two passengers, Stephan McGuire and Samantha Stauffer McGuire.  Sgt. Stillson spoke with the occupants and detected inconsistencies.  The three subjects were separated and Stauffer was asked if a pat and a search of her person could be conducted, which she agreed to.  During the search a bulge was felt around her groin area which was immediately identified as contraband. The driver gave consent to search the vehicle as well in which a glass smoking device and a pink cup with 19.00 grams of suspected methamphetamines were located.  Stephan Neale McGuire, age 42, 223 Maple Street, Belpre, OH, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail for possession of methamphetamines five times bulk. Upon arrival at the jail Stauffer was advised of the rules for conveying into the jail.  Stauffer produced 2.82 grams of what she claimed was heroin from the bulge around her groin.  Stauffer stated she also stuffed some in the drink so it was hidden.  Stephanie J Stauffer, age 38, 523 Second Street, Marietta, OH, was charged with possession of drugs, 2 counts, and tampering with evidence. Stauffer was processed into the Washington County Jail along with McGuire.

26 Jan 2024 Sgt. Augenstein met with Robert Tate, Congress Road, Belpre, OH, to take a report of a stolen corn crusher. 

29 Jan 2024 Deputy Wallace was dispatched to Waterford Township to a report of a domestic incident involving Kevin Lohoefener. Lohoefener stated this was only a verbal argument which began the evening prior and continued until today.  The victim reported Lohoefener attacking him/her in the morning, grabbing him/her by the hair and dragging him/her off of the bed.  In an attempt to defend himself/herself, pushing Lohoefener off of him/her, Lohoefener placed his hands around her/his neck and held them there for approximately 30 seconds.  Red marks were observed on the victim’s neck.  Kevin Matthew Lohoefener, age 38, 311 Third Street, Beverly, OH, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail charged with strangulation and domestic violence.

29 Jan 2024 Deputy Thornberry took a runaway complaint in Waterford Township.  The juvenile was located and returned home.

31 Jan 2024 Sgt. Martin filed requested charges be filed on a 14 year old juvenile for an assault on a school bus.  The case will be forwarded to the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office. 

31 Jan 2024 Deputy Tucker responded to the Reno Par Mar, Marietta Township to an employee reporting a male taking items from the store.  Prior to this report two separate businesses reported a subject being disorderly and the description matched that of the man that removed items from the store.  While dealing with the individual, Cody Farnsworth at a local business, he was warned of disorderly conduct and  it was explained to him that he would be arrested for failure to cease and desist if he caused any more problems. While responding to Par Mar, Farnsworth was observed walking on State Route 7.  Deputy Tucker stopped and met with Farnsworth and asked him about the items in his possession.  Farnsworth stated he did not know his card had been declined and that the items were stolen.  Deputy Tucker advised Farnsworth that he would be temporarily detained for the investigation, and asked him to place his hands behind his back, in which he complied. Deputy Tucker placed the hand restraint on Farnsworth’s left wrist, in which Farnsworth pulled away with his right arm, and was continuously attempting to pull away with his right arm. Farnsworth was instructed multiple times to place his hand behind his back and not to fight with the officer.  Farnsworth was assisted to the ground and was ordered multiple times to turn over, in which he did not comply. Deputies arrived to assist with the struggle and at one point a taser was deployed and used in drive stun mode.  Cody Aaron Farnsworth, age 27, Kinderhook Road, Newport, OH, was ultimately detained and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was charged with theft, obstruction, and resisting arrest.

31 Jan 2024 at 1540 hours Lt. Staats responded to Decatur Township to a 911 hang up call. Numerous calls had been received from this residence on prior occasions for an unruly juvenile.  Attempts to call the number back on this date met with negative results.  Lt. Staats arrived and after completing the investigation into a verbal argument, is requesting charges of unruly juvenile be filed on the 12 year old juvenile. 

1 Feb 2024 Deputy Young began an investigation into stolen items from Orchard Road, Newport Township.

Joseph Lee Greathouse, age 37, Marietta, OH, 3 counts probation violation, all felonies.

Edward Ray Conley, age 58, Marietta, OH, possession of drugs and possession of fentanyl, both felonies.

Randal Maurice Nalle, age 54, Marietta, OH, disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

Taylor Cain Mullins, age 26, Summersville, WV, conspiracy to trafficking in drugs, a felony.

Courtney Danielle Wilson, age 34, Zanesville, OH, possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

Cody Aaron Farnsworth, age 27, Newport, OH, theft, obstructing official business and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors.

Ashley Junelle Rollyson, age 38, Parkersburg, WV, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, and contempt of court, both misdemeanors.

Jason Matthew Grimes, age 46, Reedsville, OH, probation violation, a felony.

There are currently 22 women and 78 men being housed in the Washington County Jail.
