National Police Week

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy declared May 15 as Peace Officers’ Memorial Day and the week of May 15 is National Police Week in the United States. A Memorial Service has been held every year since 1982 in Senate Park.

In Washington County, Ohio, Peace Officers gather at Marietta’s City Hall and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to honor the fallen law enforcement officers. Marietta’s City Hall and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office both have memorials.
