Crime Spree Ends with Arrest

MICHAEL ELDON JAZDZEWSKI

On the evening of 15 Dec 2024 at approximately 2324 hours a report was made of a break in at a residence on Christy Road, Warren Township.

The homeowner had located a male subject breaking into his building and approached him, noting he had loaded property from the building into the rear cab of the suspect truck (white Chevrolet).

The victim attempted to retrieve his property from the back seat of the truck, however when he reached into the cab, the suspect drove off in reverse.  The victim jumped into the truck, to avoid being ran over, asking the suspect to stop, however he refused to do so.  The suspect accelerated and the victim believed that the truck was going to crash as the suspect drove through fields trying to flee the scene.  At that time the victim jumped from the moving vehicle to escape.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the crime and at approximately 2331 hours Deputy Gainer, who was en route to the 911 call, passed a white Chevrolet truck, matching the description of the suspect vehicle, on State Route 676 at/near Klinger Road.  Deputy Gainer radioed to dispatch “he’s running.” Deputy Gainer turned his vehicle around and proceeded to the next intersection (Turkeyhen Road and State Route 676). The truck had crashed into a field, and the driver absconded from the scene.  Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the driver.

Located inside the truck was property found to belong to a subject in Barlow Township.  The owner of that property provided a statement to Deputy Gainer that his building and trailer had been broken into.

On 16 Dec 2024 another call was made to the Sheriff’s Office from Christy Road, where the victim reported someone had broken into a garage the prior night. This building had been entered by force as someone had caused damage to the door jamb to make entry.

Another report was made of a stolen Toyota Truck from Warren Township, along State Route 676 on the route back to Marietta from the original crash scene in Watertown Township.

A Barlow Township resident then reported an outbuilding on Foxhaven Drive being entered, damaging the building as the forced entry was made.

Through numerous investigative leads and/or interviews Michael E. Jazdzewski was identified as a possible suspect. During an interview with Jazdzewski on 17 Dec 2024 he provided a statement, advising he had dropped the truck off at a business in Barlow and was home by midnight.  He further reported he later went to Akron the next day. Jazdzewski later met with his Parole Officer, stating he never went to Akron.

19 Dec 2024 a subject called the Sheriff’s Office to report a vehicle was found hidden in the woods on Coal Run Hill Road in Waterford Township. The vehicle was found to be the stolen Toyota truck from State Route 676. The location of the recovered stolen Toyota is approximately 1.2 miles from Jazdzewski’s residence.

Through investigative techniques Jazdzewski’s location was found to be in the area of all the above listed offenses and at the same approximate times of the offenses. These techniques also showed he returning home between 5 a.m. to 6 a.m., definitely not midnight as he stated in his interview.

Jazdzewski was released from prison on 24 Nov 2024 after serving approximately a decade for similar property crime offenses.

After reviewing Jazdzewski’s criminal record, it appears he is a lifelong multi state offender with having previously been convicted of Breaking & Entering, Safecracking, Engaging in Pattern of Corrupt Activity, Theft, Assault (felony), Obstructing an Officer and Burglary.

28 Jan 2025 Detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office became aware that Jazdzewski was at a scheduled parole appointment.  Detectives arrived at that location and arrested Michael Eldon Jazdzewski, age 38, 14990 State Route 60, Lowell, OH, for the following offenses:

O.R.C. 2911.13 Breaking and Entering, 5 counts, all 5th degree felonies

Jazdzewski was transported to the Washington County Jail where he remained incarcerated until his initial appearance in court.

29 Jan 2025 Jazdzewski appeared in Marietta Municipal Court and remains incarcerated in the Washington County Jail on $500,000 bond and an additional $4,000 on the misdemeanor charges.
