31 Aug 2023 Deputy Norris began an investigation in Adams Township at the Dollar General.  Various items totaling over $27 were stolen from the business.

1 Sept 2023 deputies responded to Lawrence Township to a report of a possible domestic incident.  After completing the investigation this was determined to be unfounded.   

1 Sept 2023 a deputy checked a vehicle pulled over by the roadway in Lawrence Township.  The disabled vehicle was in the process of being towed.

1 Sept 2023 a deputy met with Athens County to pick up a subject they had arrested on a warrant.  The individual was transported to the Washington County Jail.

1 Sept 2023 a deputy checked a vehicle at the Witten Farm Stand in Barlow.  Subject was advised to come back when they opened.

1 Sept 2023 a deputy assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Belpre Township.

1 Sept 2023 the following written/verbal warning(s) were given on traffic violations:  improper display.

1 Sept 2023 deputies completed residence checks and extra patrol requests throughout the day/night.

1 Sept 2023 deputies patrolled school zones at the beginning and ending of the school day.

1 Sept 2023 Deputy Norris began an investigation in Adams Township at the Dollar General.  Various items totaling over $5 were stolen from the business.

1 Sept 2023 deputies attempted warrants and served/attempted civil process paperwork through the day.

1 Sept 2023 Deputy Thornberry began an investigation in reference to a bad check passed at the Citizens Bank, Vincent, OH.

1 Sept 2023 a deputy spoke with a resident to give assistance with questions regarding an estate and civil action.

1 Sept 2023 a deputy stopped to offer assistance to two subjects out with flat tires in Belpre Township.  The vehicles were fixed and on their way.

1 Sept 2023 Lt. Gherke began an investigation into a fraudulent withdraw from a bank account.

1 Sept 2023 a deputy met with a subject in reference  to him believing people were coming into his home.  Subject was advised of his options.  No evidence of any break ins.

1 Sept 2023 a deputy stood by while a subject retrieved his belongings from a residence.

1 Sept 2023 deputies responded to Dunham Township to a report of a side by side parked behind a resident’s fence.  This side by side will be towed. 

1 Sept 2023 deputies responded to Warren Township to a report of prowlers in the area. 

1 Sept 2023 Deputy Gainer and Sgt. Stillson responded to Belpre Township, to a report of an assaulted involving Roger Duff.   Duff had been in a verbal argument about a puppy with the subject. Upon trying to get the puppy, Huff punched the victim in the right side of their face.  Duff then grabbed them by the throat along with a hand full of hair, pinning them against the washing machine making it difficult to escape.  Roger Duff was later located at his residence, 33 Adoraim Place, Belpre, OH, and was taken into custody charged with domestic violence.   Huff was transported to the Washington County Jail.

1 Sept 2023 four 911 hang up calls were received and all confirmed accidental.

1 Sept 2023 a deputy responded to Marietta Township to subjects with flashlights around a church.  Everything checked out okay.

2 Sept 2023 Deputy Gainer began an investigation in Warren Township regarding damage to a residence. 

2 Sept 2023 five 911 hang up calls were received and three were turned over to the Marietta Police Department.  The others were confirmed accidental.

2 Sept 2023 Sgt. McConnell began an investigation into jewelry missing from a Marietta Township residence. 

2 Sept 2023 the following written/verbal warning(s) were given on traffic violations:  improper turn, stop bar, speed and marked lanes/lanes of travel.

2  Sept 2023 Deputy Eichhorn observed a vehicle with OH registration commit a traffic offense in Marietta Township.  A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was identified as Adam Mason.  Upon checking, Mason was found to have an active warrant with the Sheriff’s Office.   Mason was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail for the active warrant charging failure to appear.   Once at the Jail, Mason was found to have a clear plastic baggie on his person, which he confirmed was methamphetamine. The plastic baggie with methamphetamine was found to weigh 0.71 grams. Adam Dale Mason, age 39, 700 Barclay Street, Lot 4, Belpre, OH, was then charged with possession of drugs.

2 Sept 2023 deputies attempted warrants and served/attempted civil process paperwork through the day.

3 Sept 2023 Deputy Wallace was dispatched to Dunbarger Road, Muskingum Township, to a disturbance complaint. Contact was made with Kayleigh Oates who was sitting in the middle of Dunbarger Road.  Empty alcohol containers were observed beside Oates and a strong odor of alcohol was coming from her person. Oates admitted to drinking alcohol beverages, stating “20 minutes ago”.  Oates was offered a standard field sobriety test, which she performed poorly on. Oates was transported to the Marietta Police Department for a BAC test, with the results being 0.152 by breath.   Kayleigh Ann Oates, age 37, 490 Nelson Hill Drive, Williamstown, WV, was placed under arrest and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol/drugs.  

3 Sept 2023 Sgt. McConnell responded to State Route 60, Muskingum Township, to a trespassing complaint.  While checking storage buildings, a homeless persons was found inside one of the units.  Sgt. McConnell identified the individual as Dakota Waite.  Waite stated he rode his bike from Beverly to Marietta and became tired so he found an open storage unit and slept in it.  Located in the storage unit in plain view was a syringe used for the administering of drugs.  Waite stated he was a drug user, prior to finding the syringe.  Waite was searched, along with his belongings, finding a small baggie with .51 grams of suspected methamphetamine, several pieces of foil with burnt marks on them, pieces of syringes, several small empty plastic baggies commonly used for drugs and several pieces of foil. Dakota Ryan Waite, age 32, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs (methamphetamine), and transported to the Washington County Jail.  Once at the Jail, an additional 1.51 grams of suspected methamphetamine was found on his person.

3 Sept 2023 Deputy Peters, while patrolling I77 south bound, Marietta Township, observed a passenger vehicle committing traffic offenses. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was identified as Elberth Torres.  A strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle and Torres was asked if there was anything illegal in the car.  Torres responded that there was marijuana in the truck. A search of the vehicle yielded 485.07grams of marijuana along with $11,949.00 cash.  Elberth Torres, age 34, 1525 Gainesville Drive, Deltona, FL, was placed under arrest and charged with trafficking in drugs and possession of drugs.  Torres was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.

3 Sept 2023 Deputy Wallace was dispatched to a theft complaint which occurred in Macksburg, Aurelius Township.  The caller states Trent Mason had stolen an OH license plate off of their vehicle and was now in Marietta. It was also reported that Mason did not have permission to take the license plate and put it on a different vehicle and drive around.  Deputies located Mason on Muskingum Drive, with the license plate on the rear of the vehicle he had been operating.  Deputies approached the residence and Mason came out asking why they were there.  Mason was read his Miranda Warning.  Mason denied knowing why deputies were present, but eventually stated he knew he was being accused of stealing a license plate. Mason denied stealing the plate, but admitted to taking the original plate off the vehicle he was found with. Mason further stated he did not know how the stolen plate could have ended up on the vehicle he was operating.  Mason admitted to driving the same vehicle around town prior to deputy’s arrival and further admitted to being in Macksburg earlier in the day.  Another license plate in the vehicle was found to be registered to the victim as well. Derek Petry, who was present at the scene, was arrested on an active felony warrant.  Petry stated he observed Mason switch the license plates on the vehicle while they were in Macksburg earlier today. Derek Eugene Petry, age 43, Macksburg, OH, was transported to the Washington County Jail on a parole violation warrant. Trent Dwight Mason, age 34, 27335 SR 7, Lot 13, Marietta, OH, was arrested and charged with theft, and transported to the Washington County Jail.

4 Sept 2023 Deputy Tucker was patrolling northbound near the 6-mile marker of Interstate 77, Muskingum Township, when he observed a station wagon traveling at a high rate of speed in the oncoming lane.  The speed was checked and verified at 97 mph in a posted 70 mph zone.  A traffic stop was conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle bearing Florida registration, driven by Jackelyn Morales Burgos.  Burgos, 2 Asparagus Court, Homosassa, FL, was issued a citation for speed. 

4 Sept 2023 Deputy Norris recovered suspected methamphetamine from a yard in Marietta Township, turned in by a resident.

Coree Gene Johnson, age 31, Parkersburg, WV, failure to register as an arson offender, a felony.

Kelly Jane Farnsworth, age 35, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a felony.

Adam Dale Mason, age 39, Belpre, OH, possession of drugs, 2 counts, both felonies.

Kayleigh Ann Oates, age 37, Williamstown, WV, driving while under the influence of alcohol/drugs, a misdemeanor.

Peyton Dillon Williams, age 21, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

There are currently 23 women and 93 men being housed in the Washington County Jail.
