16 Aug 2023 a deputy along with the New Matamoras Squad responded to Grandview Township to a subject sitting in a vehicle in the early morning hours.  Subject was found to be asleep. 

16 Aug 2023 a deputy responded to Dunham Township to a subject being scammed.  Subject determined that they were not out any money. 

16 Aug 2023 a deputy responded to Fearing Township in reference to an incident with DoorDash.  The entire situation was a misunderstanding. 

16 Aug 2023 a deputy while on patrol near the intersection of Washington Street and Third Street, Pioneer Township, observed a traffic offense.  A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Matthew R. Moyers.  Information revealed Moyers had no driving privileges.  Moyers was acting oddly, could not focus on questions, and kept attempting to reach for things.  When asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle.  Moyers stated no, and it was learned that he was lying.  Moyers was asked to step from the vehicle and again asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle that shouldn’t be.  Moyers indicated that there was paraphernalia in the vehicle.  A search revealed a bag with a crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine and a piece of foil containing white powder consistent with fentanyl.  Matthew Robert Moyers, age 46, 10915 SR 550, Vincent, OH, was placed under arrest charged with 2 counts of possession of drugs.  Moyers was transported to the Washington County Jail. 

16 Aug 2023 a deputy responded to a motor vehicle theft in Newport Township, where apparently the vehicle crashed.  The Ohio State Patrol will be handling the theft and crash report. 

16 Aug 2023 a deputy met with a Marietta township resident in reference to telecommunication harassment.  

16 Aug 2023 a deputy conducted a traffic stop in Muskingum Township and made contact with two individuals with active warrants out of Northern Ohio.  Both warrants were not served due to the original county’s jail capacity and not being within the pick-up.  

16 Aug 2023 a deputy assisted in reference to an accident with a pole and fire.  Also at the scene were the Newport and Reno VFDs. 

16 Aug 2023 a deputy assisted the Marietta Police Department. 

16 Aug 2023 a deputy checked subjects at the nature trails late in the evening.  Subjects were just enjoying the evening and were asked to move along. 

16 Aug 2023 a deputy conducted a welfare check in Waterford Township.  All subjects were found to be okay. 

16 Aug 2023 a deputy assisted with the Ohio State Patrol made contact with a wanted subject and served the paperwork accordingly. 

16 Aug 2023 written/verbal warnings were issued for failure to signal, speed, red tag for protruding load, driving under suspension, lane usage and equipment. 

16 Aug 2023 numerous residence checks and extra patrol requests were completed, as well as service of civil papers. 

The following individual(s) were processed into the Washington County Jail 16 Aug 2023: 

Dalvin Aldoniel Williams, age 24, Lauderhill, FL, probation violation, a felony. 

Matthew Robert Moyers, age 46, Vincent, OH, possession of drugs, 2 counts, both felonies. 

John Scott Sprouse, age 48, Belpre, OH, probation violation, a felony. 

Shannah Maria Turpin, age 28, probation violation, a felony. 

Robert Adrian Powers, age 53, Marietta, OH, possession of drugs and illegal manufacture of drugs, both felonies. 

There are currently 20 women and 85 men being housed in the Washington County Jail.
