21 Jul 2023 traffic stops were initiated with verbal warnings being issued: Pioneer Township: headlights required, speed, improper display, disobeying traffic control devices, and defective equipment.  Blennerhassett Township: turn signal usage and expired registration.  Belpre Township: improper display and defective equipment.  Fairfield Township: driving habits.  Marietta Township: license plate light and lanes of travel.  

Deputy Harlow assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Lawrence Township.  

Deputy Thornberry checked a vehicle near State Route 618, Belpre Township.  The vehicle was pulled off the roadway until a licensed driver could retrieve the vehicle.  No further follow up needed.  

Lt. Brown was dispatched to check on a suspicious vehicle parked in Pioneer Township.  The vehicle was gone before his arrival.  

Deputy Thornberry responded to Wesley Township in reference to subject starting a fire.  No crime was found to have occurred.  No further follow up needed.  

Deputy Derkin responded to Belpre Township to a report of puppies being dropped off at a church.  The puppies had run into the woods and were unable to be located.  

Deputy Thornberry responded to a report of a subject squatting by storage buildings in Warren Township.  The subject was gone when law enforcement arrived.  

Deputy Wallace responded to Marietta Township in reference to a 911 hang up.  The subject was counseled on utilizing the non-emergency line as there was no emergency.  

Deputy Eichhorn observed a Lexus sedan bearing OH registration in Pioneer Township, showing  on a GMC truck.  A traffic stop was conducted with Dwayne Scott Singer, 417 Harmar Street, Marietta, OH.  Singer stated he did not have a valid operator’s license, which was confirmed.  A citation was issued for fictitious plates and driving on a suspended license.

Deputy Peters and K9 Timmy were patrolling State Route 7 north when he registration check was made on a white Subaru, which came back registered to a copper station wagon.  A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of State Route 7 and Sterling Road, Marietta Township.  The driver, Jeremy Carpenter, stated there was nothing inside the vehicle that would be considered illegal.  Carpenter was advised that K9 Timmy would be deployed and conducting a free air sniff around the vehicle. Carpenter then advised that there were drugs in the vehicle. The drugs were recovered and found to be 4 grams of methamphetamine. The passenger, James K. Treadway, age 49, 921 N Main Street, Mansfield, OH, was charged with possession of drugs.  Jeremy Wade Carpenter, age 38, 111 Montgomery Street, Marietta, OH, was charged with possession of drugs.  Both Carpenter and Treadway were transported to the Washington County Jail  

Deputy Wallace was on patrol near the 900 block of Pike Street, Pioneer Township, when she observed a vehicle bearing Ohio registration driven by Trent Mason, who was known to have a suspended license.  Confirmation of the suspension was obtained and a traffic stop was conducted.  Prior to the stop, Mason was observed throwing something from the driver’s window.  Located was what appeared to be suspected fentanyl individually packaged/wrapped in 8 lottery ticket paper in the roadway where he was observed throwing it.  The 8 packages of Fentanyl weighed 6.57grams.   Mason denied throwing anything from the window.  Trent Dwight Mason, age 34, 736 Greene Street, Apt. 7, Marietta, OH, was transported to the Washington County Jail.  Mason was charged with trafficking in drugs and tampering with evidence.                         

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail between 22 Jul and 23 Jul 2023:  

Jeremy Wade Carpenter, age 38, Marietta, OH, possession of drugs, a felony.  

James Keith Treadway, age 49, Marietta, OH, possession of fentanyl, a felony.  

Jeffrey Edward Jones, age 34, New Matamoras, OH, theft and contempt of court, both  misdemeanors.  

Trent Dwight Mason, age 34, Marietta, OH, tampering with evidence and trafficking in fentanyl related compound, both felonies.  

Chad William Richard Warner, age 38, Marietta, OH, menacing, domestic violence 2 counts and assault, all misdemeanors, domestic violence, 1 count, a felony.  

Shawn David Lent, age 49, Vincent, OH, driving under suspension, a misdemeanor.  

Douglas Dean Byers, age 46, Glouster, OH, possession of fentanyl, a felony, OVI alcohol, drug of abuse or both, driving under suspension and no seatbelt, all misdemeanors.  

Cassandra Evetta Flowers, age 42, Marietta, OH, domestic violence, a misdemeanor  

There are currently 23 women and  90 men being housed in the Washington County Jail.
