30 Jun 2023 Deputy Gainer responded to Barlow Township in reference to the recovery of a Ford Ranger which had been stolen out of Athens County.
1 Jul 2023 deputies were called to check the welfare of a subject in Waterford Township.
2 Jul 2023 at 0330 hours. Deputy Young was dispatched to a report of a subject shooting a firearm in Ludlow Township. Deputy Young observed spent rounds on the front porch and proceeded to knock at the door, announcing his presence. Clinton Baldridge eventually came to the door and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected emitting from his person. Baldridge was advised why law enforcement was present and he confirmed he had discharged his firearms, pointing to where he had fired. Baldridge was reported to have been at a local residence consuming alcohol, trying to start a fight. Baldridge returned to his residence and began discharging firearms from his front porch in the direction of other residences. Contact was made with other occupants of the home, reporting that three juveniles were in the home at the time. Arrangements were made for supervision for the minors. Clinton Marvin Baldridge, age 46, 20549 SR 26, Wingett Run, OH, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail charged with weapons while intoxicated, aggravated menacing, child endangerment, and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises. Once at WCJ Baldridge’s PBT was .145 at 0546 hours.
2 Jul 2023 Sgt. Painter responded to the 100 block of Oak Hill Road, Fairfield Township, to assist with a traffic stop. The driver, Joseph A. Carpenter II, 65 Church Street, Vincent, OH, was stopped due to reckless operation of the vehicle, along with coming close to striking the patrol vehicle. Sgt. Painter was advised that Carpenter’s license was suspended. Carpenter was issued a citation for driving under suspension.
2 Jul 2023 Deputy Eichhorn responded to MMH Belpre Campus in reference to a possible overdose that occurred in Barlow Township.
2 Jul 2023 Sgt. Parks was dispatched to a dog bite incident in Aurelius Township. The dog was transported to HSOV.
2 Jul 2023 Deputy Eichhorn observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at the intersection of Newbury Road and US-50. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, Wesley Roberts. Deputy Eichhorn observed in the vehicle a black cylinder, commonly used as a marijuana grinder, which Roberts confirmed was used for marijuana. A check was made on Roberts, finding an active warrant out of Monroe County, Ohio. Roberts was placed under arrest on the warrant. A search of the vehicle revealed a folded up piece of paper containing 0.56 grams of a white powdery substance consistent with fentanyl, along with a brown box containing 1.21 grams of a white crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine. Wesley O. Roberts, age 31, 50 Meadowview Drive, Parkersburg, WV, was transported to the Washington County Jail on the warrant and charged with possession of drugs.
3 Jul 2023 Deputy Thornberry along with squad personnel responded to Muskingum Township to a report of a deceased individual. No further follow up required.
3 Jul 2023 Deputy Schwendeman responded to Aurelius township to a report of a vehicle being located on an individual’s property. The vehicle was found to be stolen from Noble County, OH.
4 Jul 2023 at approximately 0933 hours Deputy Schwendeman responded to the Lowell Dollar General, 10200 State Route 60, to a report of Kurtis Matthew Walters possibly being impaired and acting erratically. Dispatch was advised that Walters had gotten into a vehicle and drove to the Duke and Duchess station. The vehicle was located along with Walters. Walters was observed staggering and swaying, and sweating profusely. Walters was asked to step outside to speak with deputies, which he agreed to do. Walters had slurred speech and was almost incoherent at times. Walters admitted to driving to the store, but said he would probably be walking home, admitting to having a suspended driver’s license. Walters was advised that it was believed he was impaired and asked him to perform field sobriety tests, which he agreed to. Walters was unable to complete several of the tests and nearly fell over while trying, saying to just take him to jail if deputies needed to. Walters also admitted to smoking methamphetamine within the previous 12 hours. A consent to search was obtained from Walters. Located inside the vehicle was drug paraphernalia and a bag of suspected drugs. Kurtis Matthew Walters, age 30, 1455 East Branch Road, Lowell, OH, was placed under arrest and transported him to the Washington County Jail. Walters was charged with 2nd offense OVI and driving under suspension.
4 Jul 2023 Deputy Peters, along with K9 Timmy, were patrolling State Route 7, Newport Township, when he observed a vehicle with OH registration making marked lanes violation. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with Erron S. Bennett. While speaking with Bennett he would not make eye contact and was acting very nervous. When asked if he had anything illegal in the vehicle, he stated no. K9 Timmy was deployed and a free air sniff was conducted around the vehicle, showing a positive indication on the driver’s side front door. A search revealed 6.7grams of methamphetamine along with a loaded .22 revolver. Erron Scott Bennett, age 37, 165 Pauline Avenue, Akron, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail for possession of drugs and weapons under disability.
5 Jul 2023 Lt. Brown responded to 2200 Murray Street, Unit 2, Blennerhassett Township, to attempt a warrant on Craig Ciulla, age 42. Contact was made with Ciulla who was confirmed to have a warrant from the Circuit Court of Wood County, WV, for burglary and destruction of property. The date of birth and the social security number provided on the warrant was compared to the information provided by Ciulla, determining he was the subject wanted on the warrant. A charge of fugitive from justice was filed on Ciulla and he was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.
5 Jul 2023 Deputy Windland was dispatched to Fairfield Township to a report of a subject being scammed out of $20.00.
6 Jul 2023 deputies responded to an investigation into a resident being followed in the Pioneer Township, Muskingum Township and Marietta Township areas.
7 Jul 2023 Sgt. Martin began an investigation into a timbering complaint in Warren Township.
7 Jul 2023 Deputy Thornberry began an investigation into a stolen cell phone from Dunham Township.
8 Jul 2023 Lt. Tucker was made aware that current Inmate William Joseph Witten, age 55, 101 Skyvue Circle, Marietta, OH, had a warrant out of Pleasants County, West Virginia. Witten is wanted pending a hearing for revocation of bail. Information on the warrant was checked with information received when Witten was booked into the jail, finding him to be the individual wanted by Pleasants County. A charge of fugitive from justice was filed on Witten.
8 Jul 2023 Deputy Wallace was patrolling Muskingum Township when she observed a vehicle go left of center into the other lane of traffic. A traffic stop was conducted and the sole occupant and driver was found to be Mark D. Sands. Sands stated he had been drinking at the beer garden this date. Sands’ eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slurred. Sands was asked to perform SFSTs, which he did poorly on. Sands had an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person once he exited the patrol car. Sands was transported to the Marietta City Police Department for a BAC test. Sands refused to complete the test. Mark David Sands, age 40, 601 Chamberlain Drive, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail charged with driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and driving in marked lanes.
8 Jul 2023 Deputy Eichhorn responded to Burnfield Road, Belpre Township, to a report of a possible domestic dispute in progress. After completing the investigation Aaron Michael Frechette, age 41, 128 Burnfield Road, Little Hocking, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence and violation of a protection order. Frechette was transported to the Washington County Jail.
10 Jul 2023 Deputy Eichhorn began an investigation into an accidental gunshot wound to a hand/finger.
10 Jul 2023 Deputy Wallace was on patrol in Marietta Township when she observed a vehicle with peeling and poorly lit registration. The driver was also observed making furtive movements inside the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Nicholas Boley, 1004 Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras, OH, gave consent to search his vehicle. Boley advised the red bag on the passenger side belonged to another individual, and he wasn’t sure what it contained but mentioned it could possibly be methamphetamine. Found were 1×1 baggies, 2 smoking devices and a baggie of suspected methamphetamine weighing 0.5grams. Nicholas Dewayne Boley, age 38, was placed under arrest for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Boley was transported to the Washington County Jail.
10 Jul 2023 Deputy Norris completed a private property accident report in Marietta Township.
10 Jul 2023 Deputy Norris began an investigation in Marietta Township regarding damage and theft from a unit/business.
11 Jul 2023 Sgt. Painter was on patrol in Warren Township, State Route 7, when he observed a motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed. The speed was confirmed at 90 mph in a 60 mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted and a citation for speed was issued to Austin R. Ash, 710 Belrock Avenue, Apt. 119, Belpre, OH.
11 Jul 2023 Deputy Harlow and squad personnel were dispatched to check the welfare of an individual in Fairfield Township.
12 Jul 2023 Deputy Schwendeman responded 34401 State Route 7, Newport Township, to a report by Joseph Wells, stating he was chased around the yard and threatened with a knife by his on-again off-again girlfriend, Chelsea M. Curry. After completing the investigation Chelsea M. Curry, age 34, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail on a charge of domestic violence.
12 Jul 2023 Deputy Schwendeman responded to a business in Marietta Township to recover a baggie of what is believed to be methamphetamine, located on the business floor.
13 Jul 2023 while patrolling State Route 60 at Arends Ridge Road, Muskingum Township, Deputy Wallace observed a vehicle driven by a subject with a suspended license. A traffic stop was conducted with the sole occupant, Gordon Woodford, who advised he was not suspended and had taken care of his reinstatement months ago. Woodford stated he was coming home from work and had driving privileges. A review of the privileges letter revealed it had expired in December 2022. Gordon R. Woodford, 218 Main Street, Lowell, OH, was cited for driving under suspension.
12 Jul 2023 Deputy Gainer received a report from Robert Henthorn that Brandon Mayle was going onto his property and making threats. Mayle also called 911, reporting Henthorn pointed a gun at him and discharged the weapon. Both Mayle and Henthorn were arguing with each other over the phone about Mayle calling an ex-friend constantly. Henthorn stated to Mayle that if he was going to make threats then he could come to the house. Mayle showed up at Henthorn’s residence and Henthorn exited the residence with a handgun and pointed it at Mayle. Mayle was still sitting in his vehicle when Henthorn discharged the firearm in an attempt to scare Mayle. Henthorn denied ever discharging the handgun however later admitted to discharging it towards a field. Henthorn also stated he had 6 beers this evening. Robert Scott Henthorn, age 41, 2615 Patten Mills Road, Stockport, OH, was charged with aggravated menacing and using weapons while intoxicated. Upon arrival at the jail Robert Henthorn blew a PBT of .084. Mayle continued to call the ex-friend while deputies were on scene and he was advised to cease contact, which upset Mayle. Mayle stated he was going to come to the residence and cause harm to Henthorn. Bandon Duane Mayle, age 37, 21345 McGraw Road, Stewart, OH, was charged with menacing. Mayle was transported to the Washington County Jail.
13 Jul 2023 Deputy Gainer began an investigation into a scam where the subject was out $199.00.
13 Jul 2023 Sgt. Painter and Deputy Thornberry were dispatched to Beach Drive to a report of an aggravated burglary. After completing the investigation it was determined that Melissa K. Sprouse, age 55, 2702 Linden Avenue, Parkersburg, WV, was at the residence and threatened harm to another individual. A warrant was requested and issued through Marietta Municipal Court for Sprouse on a charge of aggravated burglary – inflict harm.
