On 2 Mar 2023 Deputy Norris responded to Newport Township in reference to a possible menacing complaint.
On 2 Mar 2023 at approximately 2148 hours Deputy Norris was dispatched, along with other deputies, to Muskingum Township, to a report of an active domestic incident. Deputies arrived and met with Johnathan D. Harshbarger and the other party separately. Harshbarger reported this being a verbal argument that did not get physical and wasn’t even loud. The other party to this incident had a visible scratch to the forehead as well as redness to the throat. The injuries were explained as being from a cat and the redness from stress, denying any physical altercation. Security cameras were observed and Harshbarger allowed Deputy Norris to view the footage, which you could clearly see Harshbarger hitting/slapping the other party multiple times, then grabbing them by the throat, and putting them up against the house. Johnathan D. Harshbarger, age 35, was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence.
On 3 Mar 2023 Deputy Gainer was dispatched to State Route 555, Wesley Township to a report of a dog and television, valued over $1,000, stolen by someone known to the owner. It was reported that the homeowner’s Yorkshire Terrier and flat screen TV were taken by Isaiah Donavan Mayle. It was confirmed that the items did not belong to Mayle. A warrant is being requested for Mayle, age 31, 151 E Hubert Avenue, Lancaster, OH, on a charge of burglary and theft. The warrant was requested through Marietta Municipal Court and issued to the Sheriff’s Office.
On 5 Mar 2023 at approximately 0617 hours Sgt. McConnell and Deputy Schwendeman responded to Newport Township to a report of Jordin Romick striking a family member. After arrival and meeting with all parties involved, Jordin Breann Romick, age 33, Newport, OH, was placed under arrest for domestic violence and transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 5 Mar 2023 Deputy Thornberry responded to Warren Chapel Road to complete a private property crash report. A vehicle driven by a juvenile struck a gas meter belonging to Dominion Energy.
On 5 Mar 2023 Deputy Thornberry was assisting the Belpre PD with an arrest in the Kroger parking lot. Deputy Thornberry observed a vehicle back and strike another vehicle in the lot. While Deputy Thornberry was completing his assistance with BPD the first vehicle had left the lot. A private property crash was completed for the victim of the crash.
On 5 Mar 2023 Deputy Eichhorn responded to Salem Township in reference to a possible attempted burglary.
On 5 Mar 2023 Sgt. Painter was dispatched to 101 Westview Avenue, Marietta, OH, to a report of theft. It was determined that Marissa S. Sites had been using another individual’s phone account. Sites had been allowed to use the phone once by the other inmate, however Sites continued to use her account to make phone calls. The theft amounted to over $43.00. Marissa Sky Sites, age 23, 199 Culver Run Road, Waterford, OH, was charged with theft.
On 6 Mar 2023 Deputy Davis responded to Marietta Township to a report of domestic violence by a juvenile. At the end of the investigation charges for domestic violence were filed through the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office for the juvenile.
On 6 Mar 2023 Deputy Aultman was dispatched to Decatur Township to a report of violence by a juvenile. At the end of the investigation charges for domestic violence were filed through the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office for the juvenile.
On 6 Mar 2023 Jail Lt. Timberman was notified that Lori Beth Turner, a current inmate in the Washington County Jail, had a warrant out of Wood County, WV, for counterfeiting. Identifiers were verified with the warrant and what Turner had provided upon being booked into jail, finding them to be a match. A charge of fugitive from justice was filed on Turner, age 48, 1230 East Long Street, Columbus, OH.
There are currently 23 women and 82 men being housed in the Washington County Jail.
