On 12 Jan 2023 Sgt. McConnell began an investigation into a wood chipper being stolen in Muskingum Township.
On 13 Jan 2023 Deputy Stillson was made aware of the location of a stolen camper, reported stolen in Pennsylvania.
On 14 Jan 2023 Deputy Stillson was travelling on Stanleyville Road, Fearing Township, near the intersection of Caywood Road. A black Ford Escape bearing Ohio registration, was observed approaching the intersection of Caywood Road. The driver of the vehicle disregarded the stop sign and continued into the intersection without stopping. The driver then stopped in the intersection, after seeing the deputy stop at the stop sign. A traffic stop identified the driver as Julie Helsop, who stated she was not paying attention. A citation was issued to Heslop, 55 Sugar Run Road, Marietta, OH, for disobedience of a traffic control device.
On 15 Jan 2023 Deputy Stillson was dispatched to 3155 State Route 26, Marietta Township, in regards to a home being burglarized and a dog stolen. The homeowner stated that Johnathon Carpenter is the one that committed the crime. After meeting with the victim, Carpenter called and stated he was on his way back with the dog. When asked how he got in, Carpenter stated the back door. Carpenter arrived and was in the possession of the dog along with other household items. Johnathon Pierce Bailey Carpenter, age 27, 5300 Friendship Drive, New Concord, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with burglary.
On 16 Jan 2023 Deputy Gainer was dispatched to Gantsville Road, Belpre Township, to meet with individuals regarding threatening comments made by Joshua Cantley. After completing the investigation it was determined that Cantley would be placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence. Joshua Ryan Cantley, age 33, 1043 Gantsville Road, Little Hocking, OH, was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.
On 17 Jan 2023 Deputy Schwendeman began an investigation into a report of identity theft/fraud.
On 17 Jan 2023 Deputy Peters was patrolling south bound on State Route 7, Belpre Township, when he observed a traffic offense. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Matthew Deem, was advised why he was being stopped. While speaking with Deem hypodermic syringes were observed on the floor board. A search of the vehicle was conducted locating 3 unused hypodermic syringes. A charge of possession of drug abuse instruments was filed on Matthew Edward Deem, age 41, lka: Hocking Road, Belpre, OH.
