On 2 Jan 2022 Sgt. Young along with the Devola, Fearing, Lowell Adams and Reno Fire Departments responded to 2950 State Route 821, Muskingum Township to a garage fire.
On 3 Jan 2023 Sgt. Painter was dispatched to 2316 Highland Ridge Road, Muskingum Township, Lowell, OH, to a report of Kristina Waterman and Rebekah Heldman fighting. Both ladies gave similar accounts of what had occurred. A summons is being requested for Rebekah L. Heldman, age 40, and Kristina S. Waterman, age 42, on a charge of disorderly conduct.
On 4 Jan 2023 deputies along with the Lowell PD, Beverly Waterford, Devola, Lowell Adams, Reno and Salem Fire departments responded to a garage fire at 9950 State Route 60, Lowell, OH.
On 4 Jan 2023 Sgt. Brown was made aware of a theft from the Washington County Health Department. An electric bicycle (moped) was missing from the Health Department, and the bicycle was assigned to Jassandra Johnston for her work. In August 2022 representatives reached out to Johnston, requesting the return of the bicycle. Johnston replied that the Health Dept. could take it, but that she needed some time. Communication stopped by the end of September 2022. Representatives were able to speak with Johnston and she advised the bicycle had been stolen and she had filed a report with the police department. On 5 Jan 2023 Sgt. Brown was advised that Johnston had been using an electric bicycle. Officers went to the Pearl Street address and met with Johnston. Sgt. Brown located the bicycle on the property. The bicycle had been red in color, however she had it painted blue and then black. Johnston advised this was not the same bicycle, and the one that was stolen belonged to the Health Department. Jassandra Johnston, age 41, 630 Pearl Street Extension, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with theft, falsification and tampering with evidence.
On 11 Jan 2023 deputies responded to a theft investigation at Russell Standard Corporation, 5651 State Route 821, Fearing Township. It was reported that several fuel gas cards were stolen from inside company trucks. On 16 Jan 2023 deputies again responded to Russell Standard Corporation for a breaking and entering with fuel and other items taken. On 17 Jan 2023 deputies again responded for another breaking and entering with more items stolen, as well as catalytic converters being cut off of vehicles. Detectives continued the investigation and identified a suspect. The subject was seen on numerous security videos using the fuel cards. Another individual was observed with a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle and was stopped on State Route 821. The driver advised he was meeting with someone to purchase fuel. Detectives waited for the meeting to occur and located Jacob Mozingo, when he arrived to purchase the fuel, along with passenger Timothy L Sanders. Mozingo was advised of his rights, which he waived. Mozingo stated he stole the fuel cards when he was fired from Russell Standard in October 2022. Mozingo went on to state that he sold some of the cards and kept the others to sell fuel. Mozingo stated he also broke into the business twice on 16 Jan 2023 and again on 17 Jan 2023. Sanders was read his rights which he also waived. Sanders stated Mozingo would use his vehicle at times and he was with Mozingo when he would sell fuel, and he would receive compensation for using his vehicle. The vehicle, a GMC pick up truck was found to contain fuel cards, along with other items that belong to Russell Standard Corp. Timothy Lee Sanders, age 45, 4510 Clemens Strode Road, Malta, OH, and Jacob Tyler Mozingo, age 31, 458 Ruth Brown Road NE, McConnelsville, OH, were both placed under arrest. Mozingo was charged with possession of criminal tools, theft, breaking and entering, 2 counts, and misuse of a credit card. Sanders was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools.
There are currently 15 women and 93 men being housed in the Washington County Jail.
