On 24 Nov 2022 Deputy Norris and Deputy Stillson began an investigation in Muskingum Township regarding a juvenile runaway.
On 25 Nov 2022 Deputy Harlow began an investigation into a possible assault in Marietta Township. After completing the investigation it was determined to be unfounded.
On 26 Nov 2022 Lt. Hunter began an investigation into a theft from a vehicle as well as damage to a vehicle in Independence Township.
On 26 Nov 2022 Deputy Gainer while on patrol on State Route 7 in Belpre Township observed a vehicle with an expired registration. Confirming that the registration had expired, a traffic stop was conducted. Autumn Dent was found to be the driver of the vehicle. During the stop a container with 5.81 grams of marijuana was seized, along with a smoking pipe. Dent advised that a broken meth pipe would be located in the vehicle. A citation was issued to Autumn Marie Dent, age 35, 1222 20th Street, Parkersburg, WV.
On 27 Nov 2022 Deputy Peters was patrolling State Route 7 near Dragstrip Road in Belpre Township when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed was observed in the oncoming lane. Radar showed the vehicle traveling at 90 mph in a posted 60 mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, driven by Joshua A. Nuzum. Nuzum was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and he stated there were some needles in the car, and allowed Deputy Peters to obtain them and search the vehicle. 5 insulin syringes were located along with a clear baggie of crystalline-like substance. When asked what the substance was, Nuzum replied “It is probably meth”, stating he was a meth user. Joshua Andrew Nuzum, age 37, 500 Tile Plant Road SE, Lot 1, New Lexington, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs and drug abuse instruments. A citation for speed was issued to Nuzum, along with a charge of driving under a noncompliance suspension.
There are currently 11 women and 88 men being housed in the Washington County Jail.
