On Friday 9 Sept 2022 Deputy Tullius responded to 20 Sandhill Road, Marietta Township for a private property crash.  The Ohio State Patrol was on scene advising that the driver came from Sandhill Road and pulled into the bank parking lot striking a parked vehicle.  Harold Joy, the driver, was found to be driving on a suspended license with expired plates.  Joy had struck the parked vehicle and while speaking with him, it was observed that his speech was slurred, his pupils were pinpoint, and Joy was unsteady on his feet.  A field sobriety test was administered in which Joy performed poorly.  Joy was transported for assessment and his Ford pickup truck was towed.  Harold Nelson Joy, age 57, 165 Starlite Drive, Lot 30, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and driving under suspension.  Joy was transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 9 Sept 2022 Sgt. Stillson began an investigation in Newport Township in reference to subjects being disorderly. 

On 9 Sept 2022 Sgt. Painter was travelling northbound on State Route 821 near the intersection of State Route 60, Muskingum Township.  A Ford Explorer turned off of State Route 60 onto the merge lane to also travel northbound on State Route 821, which is posted with a yield sign. The driver of the Explorer did not slow while approaching the merge portion of the roadway where Sgt. Painter was already travelling, requiring him to lock up his brakes to avoid a crash. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver/registered owner, Lisa A. Lanier.  Lanier advised she was new to the area and did not see the yield sign.  A citation for failure to yield the right of way was issued to Lisa Lanier, West Chester, OH. 

On 10 Sept 2022 Deputy Aultman began an investigation on Turner Drive, Belpre Township regarding lawncare equipment stolen.

Alfred Henry Martin, III age 36, Coolville, OH, domestic violence, a misdemeanor.

Cody Allen Shankland, age 26, Caldwell, OH, failure to comply with order or signal of peace officer and receiving stolen property, both felonies.

John Marshall Butler, age 53, Mingo, OH, contempt of court.

Anthony Christopher Demarco, age 40, Athens, OH, aggravated possession of drugs, a felony.

There are currently 21 women and 91 men being housed in the Washington County Jail.
