On 23 Aug 2022 Lt. Parks and Sgt. Schwendeman responded to Adams Township to a domestic dispute.  During the investigation, Robert Dutton, began voicing his anger about the situation.  Dutton was advised to stay out of the current situation, and he left the residence in a homemade Dunn model dune buggy, bearing Ohio registration.  Deputies were each speaking with separate subjects of the investigation when the dune buggy was heard coming back up the road.  Dutton was traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed.  Dutton appeared to swerve in the roadway at one point and began speeding up, heading directly toward where Lt. Parks and the one subject were standing, before locking up the brakes in the driveway directly in front of them.  Contact with Dutton was made, finding his eyes to be glassy and bloodshot.  Dutton had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person, with him slurring his speech. When asked if he had been drinking, Dutton said he had “one and one”, before clarifying he had one beer and one shot of liquor at the bar.  Dutton was asked to perform field sobriety tests.  Dutton performed poorly on the one test and was placed under arrest for suspicion of OVI.  Dutton was transported to the Marietta Police Dept. to perform a breath test.  The findings of that test were .0110.  Dutton made several comments about being sorry for his actions.  Robert L Dutton, age 59, 990 Laurel Ridge Road, Lowell, OH, was placed under arrest for OVI, reckless operation and attempted assault on a peace officer.

On 24 Aug 2022 Sgt. Painter became aware that an individual who had active warrants was at the residence of Joseph Wells.   Sgt. Painter to leave.  Wells then stated that the subject in his camper did have the same first name as the individual with warrants, but denied entry into the camper.  Additional deputies arrived to assist and the consent was granted by Joseph F. Wells Jr.  The individual wanted was located and placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail.  Joseph Franklin Wells Jr., age 31, 34401 State Route 7, Newport, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with obstructing justice.
