On 19 Aug 2022 deputies were dispatched to Mitchell’s Lane, Marietta Township, to a report of Grant Plemons being in violation of a protection order issued out of Marietta Municipal Court.  Video surveillance was observed showing Plemons on the property.  Plemons was later located at 415 Mount Tom Pines Road where he advised he was in the garage at the Mitchell’s Lane residence.  Plemons stated he thought the order had been dropped.  Grant Plemons, age 41, was placed under arrest and charged with violating the terms of a protection order.

On 20 Aug 2022 Sgt. Painter was patrolling State Route 7, Newport Township when a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed was noted in the oncoming traffic.  Radar revealed the vehicle was travelling at 82 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.  A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle driven by Jeffery W. Hearn, age 43, 718 ½ Front Street, Marietta, OH.  Hearn was issued a citation for speed.

On 20 Aug 2022 Deputy Wallace began an investigation into a breaking and entering at the storage buildings on State Route 7, Marietta Township.

On 21 Aug 2022 Sgt. Painter was dispatched to the Ohio State Patrol barracks, State Route 7, to a domestic disturbance into the parking lot.  Deputies met with the individual and a juvenile who stated that they had been camping with Brent Stottlemire when a verbal altercation started.  The altercation escalated to a physical altercation with Stottlemire grabbing the female and shoving her to the ground, striking her in the back of the head with his fist.  Stottlemire continued striking her and a juvenile stepped in to assist her.  The female became free and attempted to flee the area with Stottlemire jumping in the bed of the truck.  The female continued driving and when approaching the patrol barracks pulled in the parking lot where Stottlemire then absconded through the field.   Brent Russell Stottlemire, age 24, 12411 County Road 9, Newport, OH, was located and placed under arrest on two counts of domestic violence, and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Kenneth Dewayne Holbert, age 44, Vienna, WV, trespassing, menacing by stalking and aggravated possession of fentanyl, all felonies.

Nathan Corey Strickler, age 35, Parkersburg, WV, illegal conveyance of drugs, tampering with evidence and aggravated possession of fentanyl, all felonies.

Joseph Franklin Wells, Jr., age 31, Newport, OH, obstructing official business.

Brent Russel Stottlemire, age 25, New Matamoras, OH, domestic violence 2 counts, both misdemeanors.

Dalton Matthew Ball, age 24, Beverly, OH, failure to comply, a felony.

Jeremy Adam Stone, age 41, Vincent, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

There are currently 23 women and 89 men being housed in the Washington County Jail.
