On 15 Aug 2022 Deputy Peters began an investigation into a Chevy truck being stolen in Newport Township. The vehicle has been recovered.
On 15 Aug 2022 Deputy J Davis began an investigation into a motor and accessories being stolen in Wesley Township.
On 15 Aug 2022 Deputy Peters responded to Schau Road, Adams Township, to a report of Marcia Schau being assaulted by Teresa Hilton. After completing the investigation it was determined that Teresa Hilton, age 64, Schau Road, Lowell, OH, and Marcia G Schau, age 61, Schau Road, Lowell, OH, will be cited into Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of disorderly conduct – fighting.
On 16 Aug 2022 Deputy Wallace began an investigation in Adams Township regarding a brick being thrown through a house window and a car being damaged.
On 18 Aug 2022 Sgt. Painter was patrolling State Route 7, Warren Township when he observed a passenger car travelling at a high rate of speed in the oncoming lane. Radar revealed the vehicle travelling at 78 mph in a posted 60 mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle being driven by Donna Jarvis. A citation for speed was issued to Jarvis, 4390 Pleasants Ridge Road, Marietta, OH.
On 18 Aug 2022 Sgt. Schwendeman responded to Warrior Drive, Barlow Township, to a disturbance at the home. Sgt. Schwendeman was advised by both parties what had occurred, with there being different versions and who was at fault. Parties agreed to stay apart and separate for the evening and no charges would be filed. Dispatch was later advised that David Burt had pulled the lady’s hair and had pulled her to the ground. After completing the investigation David L. Burt, age 59, was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence. Burt was transported to the Washington County Jail where he completed a PBT and tested .165.
On 19 August 2022 deputies were dispatched to Warren Township to a Jeremiah Smith blocking the roadway with a vehicle. Deputies met with Smith who was inside his camper, which was blocking the roadway. Smith had one hand concealed in his pocket and when asked to remove his hand kept his hand balled, as if he was concealing something. Smith was asked again to open his hand in which he then unfolded his hand, opened a container and ingested what appeared to be a white substance in the container. Attempts to have Smith spit out the substance were unsuccessful. Once Smith was handcuffed he spit part of a plastic container out of his mouth, with the other portion stuck to his clothing. There appeared to be a white powdery substance in the container, which was consistent with methamphetamine. Jeremiah M Smith, age 42, homeless, was charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest and tampering with evidence. Smith was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.
There are currently 23 women and 87 men being housed in the Washington County Jail.
