On 19 August 2022 deputies were dispatched to Warren Township to a Jeremiah Smith blocking the roadway with a vehicle.  Deputies met with Smith who was inside his camper, which was blocking the roadway.  Smith had one hand concealed in his pocket and when asked to remove his hand kept his hand balled, as if he was concealing something.  Smith was asked again to open his hand in which he then unfolded his hand, opened a container and ingested what appeared to be a white substance in the container.  Attempts to have Smith spit out the substance were unsuccessful.  Once Smith was handcuffed he spit part of a plastic container out of his mouth, with the other portion stuck to his clothing.  There appeared to be a white powdery substance in the container, which was consistent with methamphetamine.  Jeremiah M Smith, age 42, homeless, was charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest and tampering with evidence.  Smith was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.
