On 25 Jul 2022 Lt. Gherke began an investigation into subject(s) driving in a cornfield.
On 29 Jul 2022 Sgt. Stillson began an investigation into a tool trailer being broken in and tools removed.
On 29 Jul 2022 Deputy Martin responded to the Oriana House, Marietta Township, in reference to suboxone being found. It was reported that during a routine shakedown 2 partial suboxone strips were found in a baggie near the bed of John Edward Gavarkavich along with other property belonging to Gavarkavich. Gavarkavich denied the suboxone strip belonged to him. John Edward Gavarkavich, age 46, 1414 High Street, Bellaire, OH, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Gavarkavich was transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 30 Jul 2022 Deputy Harlow responded to Lake Road, Barlow Township, to a report of a kayak being stolen. The owner reported that while he was away on 19 Jul 2022 his Lifetime Charger kayak was stolen. The owner observed a kayak on Veto Lake that matched the description of his, and he was able to confirm that it was his kayak. Contact was made with Jack McCleese who admitted to stealing the kayak on 19 Jul 2022 and scrapping it for money. A summons is being requested for Jack M. McCleese, age 65, 2705 Lake Road, B, Fleming, OH, for theft.
On 1 Aug 2022 Deputy Peters began an investigation in Aurelius Township regarding a catalytic converter being stolen.
On 1 Aug 2022 Deputy Tucker began an investigation into a wallet being stolen while the subject was in a business in Marietta Township.
The following subject(s) were processed into the Washington County Jail 1 Aug 2022:
Jeremy Ray Barringer, age 35, Reedsville, OH, importuning, a felony.
John James Wright, age 49, Marietta, OH, assault 3 counts, violate a protection order 2 counts and breach of recognizance, all misdemeanors.
There are currently 20 women and 85 men being housed in the Washington County Jail.
