On 18 Jun 2022 Deputy Stillson responded to Newport Township in an attempt to arrest a subject on a felony warrant.  A male subject exited a camper and upon seeing law enforcement retreated back into the camper.  Deputy Stillson knocked on the door and met with an individual.  A male came out of the camper and advised he did not know where the wanted individual was.  When asked for date and birth and other personal identifiers, he stated he couldn’t remember and didn’t know, and took a while to advise of his date of birth.  A check through dispatch was made in which an active warrant was found for Shannon Lasure, however he was advising his name was Shane.  The male continued denying knowing his social security number.  Through investigation a positive identification was made that the subject was in fact Shannon  Dial Lasure, age 43, 519 Ingram Road, Newport, OH.  Lasure was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail on a charge of obstructing official business.

On 19 Jun 2022 Deputy Dolly began an investigation into a financial scam utilizing Ebay. 

On 19 Jun 2022 a report was filed regarding an aggressive German Shepherd dog that was loose and attacked a female at a home near 39 Watertown Road, Watertown Township.  Deputy Tullius reported the dog belonged at 39 Watertown Road but was unable to contact the owner of the dog, therefore the dog was placed back in the fence twice before it stayed.  On 20 Jun 2022 contact was made with Ashley Marie McCoy, resident at 39 Watertown Road.  McCoy advised the dog had puppies so the collar became loose.  McCoy admitted she had not registered her three dogs which was verified.  A summons is being requested for McCoy, on a charge of failing to restrain and failure to register her dogs. 

On 20 Jun 2022 Sgt. Johnson responded to 3300 Warren Chapel Road, Warren Township, for a reported domestic violence incident. The suspect had left prior to deputies arriving.  It was reported that Tadd Wyrick has been using foreign substances and over the past few weeks was acting differently.  Wyrick had started an argument this date, becoming aggressive and eventually grabbing the victim’s hair and pulling her back inside the home.  Tadd Lee Wyrick was later arrested and charged with domestic violence.  Wyrick was transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 21 Jun 2022 Deputy Peters responded to Waterford Road, Waterford Township to a report of Slone Lang causing a scene. After completing the investigation Slone J Lang, age 27, 2633 Hendershot Road, Waterford, OH, was located and cited for disorderly conduct.

Dustin Bradley Whipkey, age 37, Lowell, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

Chadwick Lynn Smearman, age 41, Marietta, OH, parole violation, a felony.

Anthony Ray Hart, age 42, Beverly, OH, theft, a felony, contempt of court, possessing drug abuse instruments, resisting arrest and probation violation, all misdemeanors.

Tadd Lee Wyrick, age 36, Marietta, OH, domestic violence, 2 counts, 1 felony and 1 misdemeanor.

Krystal Elaine Smith, age 38,  Vincent, OH, loose log, a misdemeanor.

Harold Nelson Joy, age 57, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

Joshua Allen Danku, age 40, Marietta, OH, theft, a felony.

Christopher Scott Holder, age 37, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

There are currently 20 female inmates and 89 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
