On 26 May 2022 Deputy Dolly began an investigation at Marathon Gas, Little Hocking, in reference to 30 gallons of diesel fuel being taken out of a subject’s semi-truck. 

On 26 May 2022 Lt. Parks made contact with Travis J. Eue outside a store in Beverly, OH.  An active arrest warrant was on file for Eue on a charge of parole violation.  Eue was asked if someone could come and pick up the vehicle he had been operating, in which he advised he did not have a car, even though Lt. Parks observed Eue in a Subaru parked nearby.  Eue advised no.  Upon inventorying the vehicle, a small piece of plastic grocery bag, which was tied and the corner torn off was located.  Also located in close vicinity were several pieces of crystalline substance, suspected of being methamphetamine.  A large quantity was located in an open storage compartment of the vehicle.  Travis James Eue, age 38, 207 Florence Street, Belpre, OH, was arrested on the outstanding APA warrant, and has also been charged with drug possession.  Eue was transported to the Washington County Jail where he remains incarcerated.

On 27 May 2022 Deputy Martin began an investigation into a stolen license plate from a pick up truck in Belpre Township.

On 27 May 2022 Deputy Wallace located a vehicle in the roadway on Hocking Road at Grant Avenue.  The driver was identified as Cody R. Slaughter who had an active warrant, which was confirmed, out of Belmont County, Ohio.  Slaughter was arrested on the warrant and transported to the Washington County Jail, and turned over to the jail staff for processing.  Deputy Wallace was checking the rear seat of the sheriff’s vehicle and located a cellophane wrapper with an unknown blue substance inside.  Contact was made with Slaughter and he was asked what the substance was in the cellophane to which he replied “Xanny”, stating he had the wrapper in his mouth and was going to swallow it but didn’t.  Slaughter stated he had no prescription for Xanax.  Cody R. Slaughter, age 32, 1323 12th Street, Vienna, WV,  was charged with tampering with evidence.

On 30 May 2022 Deputy Stillson filed charges for being a fugitive from justice on Daren Earl Moore, 165 Pam Road, New Matamoras OH.  Moore had been arrested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on a warrant from the State of West Virginia, and processed into the Washington County Jail.

The following subject(s) were processed into the Washington County Jail 1 June 2022:

Larry Gene Joy, age 59, Lowell, OH, loose dog and junk vehicle, all misdemeanors.

James Ellis Shaffer, age 37, Millfield, OH, possession of drugs, a felony.

There are currently 23 female inmates and 78 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
