On 18 May 2022 Deputy Derkin began an investigation into a bad check passed in Marietta Township for over $500.

On 18 May 2022 Deputy Aultman began an investigation into a withdraw from a checking account without the owner’s permission.

On 19 May 2022 Deputy Derkin began an investigation into a Marietta Township resident failing to restrain a dog. 

On 20 May 2022 deputies responded to 20475 State Route 60, Waterford Township, to a domestic dispute complaint.  Deputies became aware that on 20 May 2022 a Robert Obrien Jr. had assaulted a female at the residence.  A juvenile was attempting to pull Obrien from the female, at which time the juvenile was struck.  Obrien left the residence on a bicycle and was later contacted.  Deputies responded to Plum Run Road and located Obrien.  Obrien denied any physical altercation today, only an argument.  Obrien was searched finding burnt aluminum foil and a glass smoking device in his pocket. Obrien stated he was a heroin and meth user.  Robert Earl Obrien Jr., age 39, 20475 State Route 60, Beverly, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with 2 counts of domestic violence and possession of paraphernalia. Obrien was transported to the Washington County Jail.        

On 20 May 2022 Deputy Gainer began an investigation into a scam carried out through a computer technical issue.  The Ohio Attorney General’s Office had been contacted by the victim.

On 21 May 2022 Deputy Stillson was dispatched to 310 Main Street, Apt. A, Adams Township, to a report of Dustin Whipkey entering a residence without permission.  Deputy Stillson met with Whipkey who stated he was confronting an individual about stealing items from him.  After completing the investigation, it was determined that Dustin Bradley Whipkey, age 37, 630 Walnut Street, Lowell, OH, would be placed under arrest and charged with burglary, and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 22 May 2022 deputies responded to Tennis Center Drive, Marietta Township, to a report of Amber Duff texting a subject stating Delano Best was “beating her” and threatened her.   No answer at the door was received when deputies arrived.  After contact with Duff by a third party was made, Duff opened the door.  Deputies located Best hiding under a bed.  A glass smoking pipe with a package of Buprenorphine was observed in plain view.  Duff kept changing her story when interviewed about what had occurred.  Duff finally admitted that around 1 a.m. she and Best were in a verbal argument, and then Best struck her in the back.  Duff stated she was in fear for her safety and scared of Best.  Delano Pierre Best, age 40, 122 Tennis Center Drive, Apt. 44, Marietta, OH, was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail charged with domestic violence, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.  

On 22 May 2022 Deputy Stillson began an investigation in Marietta Township where a Polaris Ranger was stolen. 

There are currently 26 female inmates and 76 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
