WCSO NEWS RELEASES – 11 MAR 2022


On 8 Mar 2022 Sgt. Schwendeman was patrolling in Dunham Township, when a vehicle was observed stopped in the roadway.  A male in the driver seat appeared to be asleep.  The male was identified as the registered owner, Nathan Harkness, and was the only occupant in the vehicle.  Sgt. Schwendeman attempted to wake the subject, who appeared somewhat confused.  Harkness rolled the window down and an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected.  Harkness was unsure what road he was on, and stated he was on his way home from Parkersburg. Harkness admitted to drinking earlier in the night, and performed standardized field sobriety tests, which he did poorly on.  Nathan Hunter Harkness, age 35, 10600 Haga Ridge Road, Stewart, OH, was placed under arrest for OVI, and transported for a breath test, which he agreed to, with the results being .111 BAC at 0203 HRS.

On 9 Mar 2022 Deputy Peters was dispatched to Rigel Recovery, Marietta Township, in reference to staff reporting a theft incident. Dustin James Whitt had been caught stealing items which were recovered, and subsequently discharged from the facility.  It was determined that cell phones valued over $1000 were stolen and Whitt had been observed taking the phones.  Whitt, age 35, LKA: 90 Hubbard Avenue, Apt. 1, Gallipolis, OH, was interviewed and placed under arrest charged with theft.  Whitt was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.

On 9 Mar 2022 Sgt. Johnson and Deputy Davis responded to Cats Creek Road and contacted Christopher Hilton regarding a domestic violence incident which occurred in Lowell, OH.  Hilton confirmed a verbal argument, stating no threats of violence occurred.   Deputies spoke with the victim who reported a physical incident.  Christopher Michael Hilton, age 34, 314 Fifth Street, Lowell, OH, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail for processing on a charge of domestic violence.

On 9 Mar 2022 Deputy Painter issued a citation for speed, 78 mph. in a posted 60 mph. zone in Belpre Township, to Donald P. Stutler, 2726 Glazier Road, Guysville, OH.

The following subject(s) were processed into the Washington County Jail 10 Mar 2022:

Dustin James Whitt, age 35, theft and parole violation, both felonies.

Ty Alexander Hall, age 23, Marietta, OH, possession of LSD, a felony.

Timothy Alan Holbert, age 39, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

Trenton Lee Miller, age 24, criminal damaging and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors.

There are currently 14 female inmates and 77 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
