Marietta, OH – According to Sheriff Larry R. Mincks, Sr., four were arrested in Belpre, OH, for crimes including receiving stolen property, theft, and drug possession by Agents with the Southeastern Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force, Major Crimes Task Force, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and Belpre Police Department.
On 13 Feb 2022 deputies responded to Belpre Township to investigate a theft. It was reported that a cell phone was sold to Daulton Self, however when he did not pay for the phone, the original owner took back possession of the phone. While looking through the phone it was discovered that Self had photographed several stolen items and posted them for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The phone was turned over to deputies who also discovered photographs of several tools taken during another unrelated Burglary.
On 17 Feb 2022 a search warrant was executed by members of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, MCTF, HTTF and the Belpre Police Department at 809 Brentwood Drive, Blennerhassett Township.
During the execution of the search warrant, contact was made with Self who admitted to photographing and selling the items that were reported stolen by the victim. Self continued stating that he had permission to sell the items and that he gave the victim the money from the sale.
Agents located a prescription for a dangerous drug in Courtney Shepherd and Self’s bedroom, which also belonged to one of the victims. Also, during a pat down of Shepherd, deputies asked her if she had anything illegal on her. Shepherd stated she believed all of the illegal substances were in her bedroom. However, deputies located a baggie with a white powdery substance, weighting 1.74 grams, in Shepherd’s pocket that she later confirmed was heroin.
Adam Hadley and Cecelia Schultz were also located in a downstairs bedroom together. While searching the room, a small baggie was located with a white powdery substance, prescription pills, (later identified as Alprazolam and Amphetamine), and multiple syringes and digital scales with white powder residue.
Deputies located, on Hadley’s side of the room, a Harley Davidson speedometer, positively identified by deputies as that reported stolen on 13 Feb 2022 from a Belpre Township home.
Daulton Steven Self, 34, 809 Brentwood Drive, Belpre, OH, was placed under arrest on a charge of theft, a 5th degree felony, and receiving stolen property, a 4th degree felony.
