WCSO NEWS RELEASES – 6 JAN 2022
On 1 Jan 2022 Sgt. Brown responded to Watertown Road, Watertown Township, to a domestic dispute involving Richard Decker III. Other deputies assisted at the scene where Decker was reported to have fled into a neighboring building. Damage to a vehicle at the location was reported to have been done by Decker. Decker was located and taken into custody. Decker stated nothing physical had occurred, however once arriving in Watertown a verbal argument began. Decker stated he then went to another area to get away from the victim. An arrest warrant was found to be active on Decker and he was placed under arrest on that warrant. After completing the investigation deputies transported Richard Curtis Decker III, age 31, 253 Deerwalk Highway, Waverly, WV, to the Washington County Jail where he was charged with domestic violence, 2 counts of endangering children, and burglary.
On 5 Jan 2022 Sgt. Brown responded to 27400 State Route 7, Marietta Township, to a report of a house trailer being on fire. A house trailer was observed partially engulfed with the fire department actively fighting the fire. Multiple witnesses to the incident stated that “Larry” set the fire. Deputies met with Larry Shaffer down the road. Shaffer stated he set a fire in the bathtub of the residence, for heat for himself and his dog. Shaffer then left the residence to go to the store. After completing the investigation Larry Clark Shaffer, age 53, Lot 17, Marietta, was placed under arrest and charge with breaking and entering and arson. Shaffer was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.

Shannah Maria Turpin, 26, Marietta, OH, theft, 3 counts, breach of recognizance, possessing drug abuse instruments, criminal trespass and drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
Larry Clark Shaffer, 53, Reno, OH, arson and breaking and entering, both felonies.
Roy Kenneth Fox, 42, Marietta, OH, domestic violence and inducing panic, both misdemeanors.
Thomas Edward Nicholson, 34, Beverly, OH, obstructing official business, a felony, and resisting arrest and menacing, both misdemeanors.
There are currently 17 female inmates and 75 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
