Marietta, OH – According to Sheriff Larry R. Mincks, Sr., a Marietta resident was arrested Wednesday afternoon by Agents with the Southeastern Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force.

On 29 Dec 2021 Daniel Earl Sciance Jr., age 25, 105 Wyoming Road, Marietta, OH, agreed to meet with who he believed to be a 15 year old female to engage in sexual activity.  Arrangements were made with Sciance to meet in the shopping center on Gross Street, Marietta, OH.  Agents observed Sciance pull into a parking spot, where Sciance then advised the undercover agent to get in the back.  Agents then intercepted Sciance in the 100 block of Gross Street, and took him into custody.

In August, 2021, Agents began communicating with a subject believed to be Daniel E. Sciance Jr.  During these communications, Sciance engaged in conversation attempting to solicit sexual activity with who he believed was a 15 year old female.

On 29 Dec 2021 Sciance sent communications to the “15 year old female” making numerous sexual advances, (very explicit sexual content).  Sciance also indicated to the “15 year old” that she would spend the night and he would provide “pot”.

Sciance acknowledged to Agents that he was to meet a female he’d been talking to at this location.

Sciance was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail charged with importuning, a 5th degree felony and possession of criminal tools (cellphone), a 5th degree felony.   Sciance was also served active warrants for 2 counts driving under suspension and turn/stop sign violation. 

The Southeastern Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force is part of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost Organized Crime Investigations Commission and is comprised of representatives of the Washington, Noble, Morgan, Monroe, Athens, and Meigs County Sheriff’s Offices, the Marietta and Athens City Police Departments, the Marietta College Police Department, the Washington, Noble, Morgan, Monroe, and Athens County Prosecutor’s Offices.
