On 24 Nov 2021 Lt. Parks began an investigation into damage at a storage building in Marietta Township.
On 25 Nov 2021 Deputy Stillson was dispatched to 1308 Williamson Avenue, Grandview Township, to a report of a subject being disorderly. It was reported that William Harris was drunk and fighting with people outside. Harris was pounding on a door, and was told to stop pounding and to leave the occupant alone. Neighbors could hear the pounding and Harris being argumentative with witnesses. Deputy Stillson met with William Bradley Harris, age 38, 1308 Williamson Avenue, Apt. 2B, New Matamoras, OH, and provided medical attention for Harris. A citation for disorderly conduct was filed through the Marietta Municipal Court.
On 26 Nov 2021 deputies responded to Swaney Court, Marietta Township, to a report of a robbery and theft of a vehicle. At approximately 9:20 a.m. the homeowner heard a male yelling for help in the kitchen area. The male in the kitchen did not have permission to be there. The male, later identified as James Matthew Doty, was bent over, stating he was having a heart attack. Doty was advised that they would take him to the hospital. Once the vehicle was available for Doty to be transported for medical treatment, Doty stood between the owner and the car door trying to obtain the car keys. Doty pulled out a knife demanding the keys. The subject ran for safety and Doty left in the vehicle. Deputies patrolled the area for the vehicle with negative results. Doty had also entered a building and another vehicle at that location and stole a wallet with cash and debit/credit cards. Deputies became aware that the Marietta Police Department had received similar calls and the vehicle in this incident was located in the area of the burglaries in Marietta. The Marietta Police Officers were able to apprehend the male, James Matthew Doty, and he was identified as the suspect from Swaney Court, that had entered the home and stole the vehicle. James Matthew Doty, age 36, 45 Rock Lane Road, New Martinsville, WV, was placed under arrest by the MPD. Detective Dolly filed charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and grand theft of a motor vehicle.
On 26 Nov 2021 Deputy Peters began an investigation into a breaking and entering in Marietta Township. Nothing was reported stolen at this time.

James Matthew Doty, 36, New Martinsville, WV, burglary, kidnapping, theft, aggravated robbery, burglary (2 counts), aggravated burglary, felonious assault and disrupting public service, all felonies.
Grant Plemons, 44, Marietta, OH, disrupting public service, a felony, and domestic violence, a misdemeanor.
There are currently 8 female inmates and 60 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
