​WCSO NEWS RELEASES FOR 13 OCT 2021


On 4 Oct 2021 Deputy Young began an investigation into a stolen 8’x4’ trailer from Waterford Township.  This case remains under investigation.

On 5 Oct 2021 Sgt. Schwendeman began an investigation into a burglary in the Lawrence Township area.  Nothing was removed and a refusal to prosecute was signed.

On 6 Oct 2021 Deputy Peters began an investigation at the Par Mar, Marietta Township, regarding a theft.  The theft was for approximately $18.50 in merchandise.  This case remains under investigation.

On 7 Oct 2021 Deputy Aultman was dispatched to Newport Township, to a report of a female being assaulted by Mitchell Greenwood.  After conducting the investigation and speaking with all parties involved it was determined that Mitchell L. Greenwood, age 36,  35 Heeter Road, Newport, OH, would be placed under arrest and charged with assault.  Greenwood was taken to the Washington County Jail for processing.

On 8 Oct /2021 Deputy Stillson was dispatched to 830 Mount Tom Road, Marietta Township to a report made by Noah Six stating Charles Day Jr. threatened him with a gun. Deputies made contact and was advised by Six that Day came into the room and they engaged in a verbal argument and then Day brandished a firearm.  A witness to the incident was told by Day that he would shoot them as well.  After speaking with all parties involved Charles Edwin Day Jr., age 38, was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated menacing and domestic violence.  Day was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing

On 8 Oct 2021 Deputy Tornes began an investigation in Pioneer Township in reference to a dog restraint complaint.  This case remains under investigation.

On 8 Oct 2021 Deputy Gainer began an investigation in Belpre Township regarding a stolen 2004 Ford truck.  This case remains under investigation.

On 9 Oct 2021 Lt. Parks was dispatched to Barlow Township to a report of a suspicious vehicle. Lt. Parks located the vehicle parked along State Route 339 and a male subject was observed laying in the grass, with the vehicle running and the lights on.  Lt. Parks identified herself, however the male did not respond.  The male, identified as Michael Chisolm, seemed to be confused.  An odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected and he admitted to drinking.  Michael stated he was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and had driven from Marietta, to his home.  The investigation continued and Michael Wayne Chisolm, age 33, 13768 State Route 339, Waterford, was charged with having physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence.

On 9 Oct 2021 Sgt. Brown began an investigation in New Matamoras regarding a stolen vehicle.  After patrolling the area the vehicle was located.  Case closed.

On 9 Oct 2021 Deputy Tullius responded to Reynolds Landscaping, Belpre, OH, regarding catalytic converters being removed from vehicle(s).  This case remains under investigation.

On 10 Oct 2021 Deputy Gainer observed a vehicle partially blocking a lane of travel on Barnett Ridge Road, Barlow Township.  Deputy Gainer met with Jeremy Kesselring, a single male occupant reclining in the driver’s seat of the vehicle asleep. Deputy Gainer completed his investigation and speaking with Kesselring.  Jeremy Jay Kesselring, age 44, 4791 Waterford Road, Marietta, OH, was issued a citation for physical control of a motor vehicle. 

On 10 Oct 2021 Deputy Martin began an investigation into a breaking and entering in Muskingum Township.  This case remains under investigation.

The following subject(s) were processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Oct 2021:

Colton Robert Ishmael, age 28, Lowell, OH, contempt of court warrant, Pickaway County.

Samuel Abraham Hartshorn, age 43, Reno, OH, domestic violence, a felony.

There are currently 9 female inmates and 67 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
