On 20 Sept 2021 deputies were dispatched to 1045 Southland Cemetery Road, Wesley Township, to an anonymous call stating Shelden Dwight Hill was at this address driving a red car.  Hill is wanted on several warrants out of Washington County, Morgan County, Athens County, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.  Deputies arrived and were unable to locate Hill at the residence at that time.  A vehicle matching the description was observed driving towards this address.  Lt. Parks shined a light at the vehicle and it stopped, then started backing away from her.  Deputies moved their marked vehicles towards the vehicle and activated our emergency lights and sirens.  The driver of the vehicle, a red Chevy Camaro, with a white hood, continued to back away from officers then made a hard turn to the left.  The vehicle stopped, and then aggressively accelerated forward, causing the rear of the vehicle to slide on the gravel roadway and strike the embankment.  Deputies were able to see the male driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle and identified him as Shelden Dwight Hill.  Due to Shelden’s reckless driving as he sped away, gravel was thrown from the roadway onto the front and right side of Deputy Young’s Sheriff’s Office cruiser.  Hill continued driving away at a high rate of speed on Southland Cemetery Road.  Visual contact was lost near the intersection of Southland Cemetery Road and Mayle Ridge Road.  Deputies and Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers patrolled for Hill, however were unable to locate him.  A warrant was requested and issued for Sheldon Dwight Hill, age 38, 11827 State Route 555, Cutler, OH, for failure to comply with order or signal of police officer.
