On 17 Jun 2021 Lt. Hunter was dispatched to the Washington County Jail to an altercation which took place in the jail.  Jail personnel stated that Inmate Goround A. Sasay assaulted Inmate Sylvester Walker in the bathroom for no apparent reason. Just prior to the assault taking place, Sasay was observed taking an aggressive posture and seeking out an argument with Walker, and a fight ensued between the two.  Walker was observed attempting to defend himself from multiple punches and kicks by Sasay.  Sasay then exited the bathroom and retrieved a wooden broom handle, breaking the handle, creating a very sharp instrument.  Sasay begins walking towards Walker and is subsequently tackled to the ground and disarmed by other inmates. Zachary K. Blum reportedly kicked Sasay while he was on the floor of the dorm. Phillip E. Butler tackled Sasay to the ground and  threw a barrage of haymaker punches along with kicking and slapping Sasay, while other inmates joined in.  Zachary K Blum, age 31, homeless, Phillip Edward Butler, age 38, 33723 Dexter Road, Rutland, OH, and Joshua Glenn  Stewart, age 40, 2021 Robinson Hill Road, Marietta, OH, were all charged with assault . Goround Ali Sasay, age 22, 1920 Manchester Road, Apt. 1, Akron, OH, was charged with assault, vandalism and possession of a deadly weapon.

On 17 Jun 2021 Lt. Hunter was advised that Alexander R. Rector, a current inmate, had broken the dorm telephone to the point where it made the entire phone inoperable.  A charge of vandalism was filed on Alexander Ray Rector, age 19, 2 Worthington Lane, Parkersburg, WV.

Deryl Edward Wilson, Jr., age 51, Pomeroy, OH, having weapons while under disability, 2 counts, possession of drugs, all felonies, and aggravated menacing, a misdemeanor.

Anthony Gene Beldean, age 30, Kimbolton, OH, aggravated possession of drugs, a felony warrant from Perry County.

Travis Dalton Britt, age 40, Parkersburg, WV, driving while under the influence of alcohol, and turn/stop signals, both misdemeanors.

Dillon Gage Anderson, Belpre, OH, obstructing official business, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon,  and 2 counts of probation violation, all misdemeanors.

Zachary Allen Sandy, age 30, Parkersburg, WV, fugitive from justice and illegal use or possession of drug, all misdemeanors, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drugs, all felonies.

Brandon James Payne, age 30, Marietta, OH, contempt of court, Perry County warrant.

There are currently 16 female inmates and 83 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
