WCSO NEWS RELEASES FOR 8 JUN 2021


On 5 Jun 2021 deputies responded to the Par Mar Gas Station, 3355 State Route 821, Marietta, OH, to a theft complaint. A customer, later identified as Barriman Bell, Cambridge, OH, was seen hiding a pop bottle in his jeans and walking out of the store without paying for the item.  Contact was made with the male subject and he was advised of the complaint.  After conducting further investigation Barriman Lee Bell admitted to the items he had taken.  Bell, age 35, was placed under arrest and charged with theft.  Bell was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.

On 5 Jun 2021 Deputy Gainer responded to Rocky Point Road in reference to a male and female in a backyard fighting.  The female was reportedly walking towards SR 339, and was located by Deputy Gainer.  The female stated that the male subject was William Kauff, and they had been arguing when Kauff struck her with an open hand across the face while they were travelling on SR 339.  The female attempted to flee the vehicle, however Kauff grabbed her, preventing her from exiting the vehicle. Kauff had also taken the female’s cell phone prior to him absconding the scene. A warrant was requested and issued for the arrest of William E. Kauff Jr., age 44, 39780 Union Avenue, Pomeroy, OH, on a charge of domestic violence, unlawful restraint and disrupting public service.                                    

On 5 Jun 2021 Deputies Young and Stillson were dispatched to Dalzell Road, Lower Salem, OH, to a complaint of criminal damaging. Information was received that a threatening message was posted on Facebook by Kristofer Eye.  After conducting the investigation deputies placed Kristofer Robert Layne Eye, age 37, 10895 Dalzell Road, Apt. A, Lower Salem, OH, under arrest for criminal damaging and menacing.  Eye was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.

On 6 Jun 2021 deputies responded to Gantsville Road, Little Hocking, OH, to a report of domestic violence. Deputies met with Joanna Tullius who was in a vehicle and advised she had been involved in an argument with a family  member.  After completing the investigation it was determined that Joanna L Tullius, age 41, 423 Old River Road, Little Hocking, OH, would be arrested for domestic violence.  Tullius was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing. 

The following subject(s) were processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 2021:

Rebecca Dawn Sparks, age 38, Marietta, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

Justin Paul Caplinger, age 31, Parkersburg, WV, criminal trespass and breach of recognizance, both misdemeanors.

Brian Keith Edgar, age 34, Whipple, OH, driving under suspension, a misdemeanor.

There are currently 23 female inmates and 93 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
