On 17 Mar 2021 Deputy Johnson met with Brooke Miller, Braun Road, Belpre, OH, in reference to the unauthorized use of a vehicle complaint. This case remains under investigation.
On 17 Mar 2021 Deputy Kehl was dispatched to 705 Fourth Street, New Matamoras, OH, to a report that Gabriel Chambers was acting disorderly. Deputy Kehl made contact with Chambers, who was acting erratic and being verbally belligerent. Chambers agreed to let the squad members check him out. Chambers was attempting to light a cigarette with the oxygen canisters on the squad in close proximity. He was told not to do so and he became upset and started acting out again. Chambers was told to cease and desist however he continued using profanity and acting disorderly. Gabriel Urial Hamilton Chambers, age 25, was placed under arrest and charged with disorderly, cease and desist.
On 17 Mar 2021 Deputy Gainer met with Carl Bunner, Dodd Run Road, Marietta, OH, to take a stolen four-wheeler report. This case remains under investigation.
On 18 Mar 2021 Lt Reeder, while working the Washington County Jail, 101 Westview Avenue, was informed that inmate Dashawn L. Young reported to a Corrections Officer that “the TV is broke and I’m to blame.” The C/O asked Young what happened to the television and he explained “I punched it, I was trying to turn the TV and I hit too high, and too hard and busted the screen.” Dashawn Lamar Young, age 45, 2728 Tudor Road, Columbus, OH, was charged with vandalism.
On 17 Mar 2021 Sgt. Parks and Lt. McPeek were dispatched to 20 Tucker Road, Lowell, OH, to a report of Timothy Shumar being intoxicated and striking his wife. Miranda reported “he punched me, he grabbed me, he shoved me”. Deputies met with Timothy who stated he was being belligerent with his wife, and had pushed her but had not hit her. Miranda stated Timothy was drunk and he was in her face when they were arguing. Timothy reportedly grabbed her arm and shoved her, accidentally striking her in the neck. Miranda stated she punched Timothy because she thought he was going to punch her after she pushed him away. Timothy Dewayne Shumar, age 25, was arrested for domestic violence and a probation violation. At the jail Timothy submitted to a PBT and tested .182.
On 18 Mar 2021 at approximately 0550 hours Willie Cassie Shropshire was brought into the Washington County Jail, 101 Westview Avenue, Marietta, on warrants. Shropshire was asked if he had anything illegal on him like drugs or weapons, and he proclaimed he did not. An initial pat down search was conducted and while searching his right front pant pocket area, a small lump was located in his pocket, being a small white plastic baggie. A green substance resembling and smiling like marijuana was inside. After weighing the substance, it was found to weigh .074 grams. Shropshire, age 31, Akron, OH, was charged with Illegal conveyance of weapons, drugs or other prohibited items onto grounds of detention facility.
On 18 Mar 2021 Deputy Kehl was dispatched to 1750 Brackenridge Road, Vincent, OH, to a report of a domestic dispute. Tamela Milam advised on March 13, 2021, she was assaulted by her husband, Edward Milam. Tamela advised Edward threw a scented glass candle at her, striking her on the right collar bone area.. Tamela advised after this incident, Edward had possession of her cell phone and would not give it back to her. Tamela said she wanted to call 911, but did not have means to do so. Edward Joseph Milam, age 42, was placed under arrest for probation violation, domestic violence and disrupting public service. Milam was transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 18 Mar 2021 Deputy Gainer began an investigation into a financial scam. This case remains under investigation.

Edward Wayne Houk, Jr., age 20, Marietta, OH, menacing by stalking, possession of criminal tools, both felonies, and violating a protection order, a misdemeanor.
Edward Joseph Milam, age 42, probation violation, a misdemeanor, domestic violence and disrupting public service, both felonies.
There are currently 13 female inmates and 64 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
