On 3 Mar 2021 Deputy Kehl began an investigation into an assault. After completing the investigation it was determined to be unfounded.
On 3 Mar 2021 Sgt. McGilton and Deputy Peters responded to 250 Masonic Park Lane, Marietta, OH, to a report of a domestic dispute. Dustin Cunningham stated his girlfriend, Amber Starcher, found photos on his cell phone she did not like and confronted him about it. Dustin stated he smarted off and Starcher choked him from behind, causing red marks and scratches on his neck. Starcher also punched him with a closed fist in his face. Starcher was interviewed and admitted to these actions. Amber D. Starcher, age 23, was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence. Starcher was transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 5 Mar 2021 deputies were dispatched to the Station Carryout, 595 Joe Skinner Road, Belpre, OH, to a report of a safe being broken into. Deputies were able to view camera footage with the owner. John Hoy was observed on camera taking money from the locked cabinet. The cabinet was forcible entered and $1000 stolen. Deputy Crum requested a warrant be issued for the arrest of John Wesley Hoy, age 43, on charges of safecracking, criminal damaging and theft.
On 5 Mar 2021 Deputy Brown began an investigation in reference to a financial scam. This case remains under investigation.
On 6 Mar 2021 Deputy Peters responded to Ewing Road in reference to a resident finding what was believed to be a bullet in the side of the residence. This case remains under investigation.
On 6 Mar 2021 Deputy Peters and Lt Hunter responded to Highland Ridge Road, Lowell, OH, to a report of a domestic dispute. Leanna Longfellow and Derek Waterman met with deputies. It was reported that Waterman had been drinking and engaged in a verbal argument with Longfellow. Waterman pushed Longfellow to the ground, knocking a juvenile from her hands, and placing his hands around Longfellow’s neck. Longfellow and the child then fled to a vehicle. Longfellow attempted to gain entry to the vehicle and leave, however Waterman grabbed her and pulled her to the ground. Longfellow was able to get up and away again, however Waterman again pushed her to the ground, getting on top of her and placing his hands around her neck again, telling her to be quiet as she was yelling for help. Derek Jerome Waterman, age 27, was placed under arrest and charged with two felony counts of domestic violence. Waterman was transported to the Washington County Jail.
There are currently 16 female inmates and 60 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
