On 1 Mar 2021 Det. Sgt. Smeeks requested and was issued an arrest warrant through Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, for Tyson Chad Hill, age 39, lka: 219 Harmar Street, Marietta, OH.

On 24 Oct 2020 Det. Sgt. Smeeks began an investigation into the death of 37-year-old Jeffry Ryan Voycik.  Voycik was found deceased in his home at 11:50 a.m.  Suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia were found next to Voycik’s body.

Voycik’s death appeared to be, and was later verified by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, a result of a drug overdose.  The report showed that Voycik tested positive for Fentanyl, Amphetamine/Methamphetamine, and Gabapentin. Multiple drug intoxication (Fentanyl and Amphetamine/Methamphetamine), contributed by cardiomegaly was reported to be the cause of death.

Detectives obtained search warrants, which revealed social media message content on the evening of 23 Oct 2020 between Voycik and Tyson Hill.   In the messages, the user in which Voycik arranges to purchase Methamphetamine and Heroin, was Tyson Hill.  In the same conversation Hill tells Voycik that he also had Fentanyl, Marijuana Wax, and other drugs available for purchase.

Additional investigation positively identify the account user Tyson Hill to be Tyson Chad Hill, DOB:  09/10/1981.  The above-mentioned drug transaction took place where Hill was living at that time, being 122 Tennis Center Drive, Unit 36, Marietta, OH, near Hill’s apartment, around 7 p.m. on 23 Oct 2020.  Voycik had  requested to buy “Ice and Scag” (meth and heroin).

On 23 Oct 2020 Voycik made a comment on the message thread with Hill at 8:22 p.m., after the purchase, that he “Mos DEF made it Safehouse mixed The Matterz Together SLO +Go $0 PRIMO”.   Voycik also made a comment to another social media user, after the purchase, that he bought heroin from Tyson and tried it. Approximately 12 hours later Jeffry Voycik was deceased.

After completing the investigation and reviewing all the evidence, there is no indication that Jeffry Voycik made any other purchases of drugs before his death.

Hill was arrested on 3 Mar 2021 and processed into the Washington County Jail where he will appear in Marietta Municipal Court on 4 Mar 2021.
