On 1 Aug 2019 deputies and squad personnel  were dispatched to the scene of a deceased male.   Deputies obtained the victim’s phone as evidence and upon examining the phone detected some coded drug texts from Benjamin Knight.  One text on 1 Aug 2019 asked if he still had that “lil flowr” and after squad and law enforcement personnel were at the location, there was a text asking if everything was okay.
During the investigation Lt. McPeek learned  a subject sold heroin to a barber in Devola named Benjamin Knight.  Also anonymous tips were received that suspected Knight of selling drugs out of his barber shop in Devola.
A search warrant was obtained for Knight’s business, Ben’s Barber Shop, 101 Seneca Drive, Marietta, Ohio, and his residence, which is less than 600 feet from a school.  During the search deputies recovered approximately 74.69 grams of marijuana, edible marijuana gummies, baggies used for resale, digital scales, an unknown white powder, straws with white residue, cash and a Smith and Wesson pistol.
