WCSO NEWS RELEASES FOR 4 SEPT 2020


On 30 Aug 2020 Sgt. Parks took a theft report from Amanda Dobbins, 560 Bender Road, Marietta, OH, for the theft of an Apple iPhone.  This case remains under investigation.

On 31 Aug  2020 Deputy Painter  was dispatched to 10440 Veto Road, Belpre, Ohio, to Myles Merew reporting his wife, Kristi Merew, ramming his vehicle with hers while attempting to keep him from leaving the residence.   Both parties had  different stories to tell.  Kristi stated she did not recall striking Myles’ vehicle. Kristi was attempting to leave the residence at the same time Myles was.  Myles admitted to striking Kristi’s vehicle in attempts to immobilize it, as he feared Kristi would attempt to ram his vehicle again with their child in the vehicle. Deputy Painter is requesting a summons be issued to Kristi M. Merew, age 40, and Myles L.  Merew, age 41,  for disorderly conduct. 

On 31 Aug 2020 Sgt. Allender met with Avelino Batista, Newark, NJ, at 2163 State Route 821, Marietta, Ohio, who was at the location to pick up vehicles the local company had sold.  Batista was pinned between a building and a vehicle at this location.  Medical attention by the Devola Volunteer Fire Department was given to Batista.

On 1 Sep 2020 Deputy Peters responded to Beach Dive, Belpre, to a report of a camping trailer being entered and items taken.  This case remains under investigation.

On 1 Sep 2020 Sgt. Allender responded to State Route 26, Ludlow Township in reference to a breaking and entering of an outbuilding.  This case remains under investigation.

On 2 Sep  2020 Lt. Hornbeck  was dispatched to the Merew residence at 10440 Veto Road, Belpre, OH, in reference to a subject reporting a problem at the residence.  Lt. Hornbeck located Myles Merew at a store and observed multiple guns in his vehicle.  Comments were made by Merew which were concerning to Lt. Hornbeck.  Myles Lealand Merew, age 41, was placed under arrest and charged with inducing panic.  Merew was transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 2 Sep 2020 Deputy Hockenberry met with Mitchel Cooper, State Route 339, Belpre, OH, in regard to their 2018 Polaris being stolen.  This case remains under investigation.

On 4 Sep  2020  Lt. Hunter and Deputy Peters responded to 121 Federal Street, Little Hocking, to a report of domestic violence.  After completing the investigation Aaron Joseph Harvey, age 34, was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of domestic violence.  Harvey was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing. 

The following subject(s) were processed into the Washington County Jail between Thursday 3 Sep 2020 and Friday 4 Sep 2020:

Shaun Patrick Husk, age 18, 916 Springdale Drive, Akron, OH,  failure to comply a felony,  no operator’s license, speed, fictitious  plates, no seatbelt, possession of marijuana, all misdemeanors.

There are currently 18 female inmates and 77 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
