On 23 Jun 2020 Deputy Peters began an investigation into a stolen/unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  This case remains under investigation.

On 23 Jun 2020 charges of assault were filed by Sgt. Farrell at the Washington County Jail on Casey Troy Carpenter, age 24, 970 Dixon Ridge Road, Lowell, OH.  On 14 Jun 2020 C/O Ison advised that Inmate Michael Farnsworth had a fresh black eye. Farnsworth was questioned about the eye, however he did not want to implicate anyone.  Through investigation it was revealed that Farnsworth was assaulted on 13 Jun 2020 at approximately 2153 hours when Carpenter threw several punches at him. Inmate Carpenter was served with a copy of the charges.

On 23 Jun 2020 Sgt. Parks conducted a traffic stop at Gilman Avenue and Putnam Street.  After conducting the investigation the driver, Matthew Ryan Warden, age 49, 1375 Cole Run Road, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

On 24 Jun 2020 Deputy Young was dispatched to 43000 State Route 7, to a motor vehicle theft.  Benjamin Turner’s 1992 Chevy truck was taken from his carport at approximately 2300 hrs.  Turner stated on this date Justin Brown arrived at his residence, and was near his vehicle on the carport.  Brown inquired if a neighbor residence was for rent and also commented on his jet ski.  Brown advised he had been at the residence prior to this time, and knocked on Turner’s door, but no one answered.  Turner learned that Brown and a female, Amy Brown, were at the home on a couple of other occasions.   Deputy Young was notified that Wood County Sheriff’s Dept., Parkersburg, WV, observed the vehicle on I77 and upon attempting a traffic stop the occupant fled the vehicle and attempted to get into another truck, driven by Amy Brown.  Both Justin and Amy were apprehended by the Sheriff’s Dept.  Amy Dawn Brown, age 41, LKA: 393 Hudkins Road, Summerville, WV, is being charged with three counts of complicity in Washington County.  Justin Lee Brown, age 31, LKA: 393 Hudkins Road, Summerville, WV, was arrested in WV for three warrants and having weapons while under disability.  Brown is being charged in Washington County with theft of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools. Warrants were requested for both Amy and Justin Brown.

Aaron J. Mathew Huseman, age 32, 90 Railroad Street, Whipple, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

Tyler James Wittenbrook, age 19, 128 Harmar Street, Marietta, OH, alcohol under the age of 21, a misdemeanor.

Nicholas Dean Brooks II, age 37, 611 ½ Wayne Street, Marietta, OH, criminal trespass, a misdemeanor.

Zachary Scott Brooks, age 23, 1464 Barnett Ridge Road, Belpre, OH, probation violation, a misdemeanor.

William Roscoe Sayles, III, age 61, 1341 Brandywine Pl. Apt. 315, Zanesville, OH, fugitive from justice, a felony.

Kalee Marie Krawczyk Leja, age 20, 211 Rummer Road, Apt. A, Marietta, OH, loose dog, a misdemeanor.

Jason Lee Strickler, age 41, 765 Danas Run Road, Newport, OH, 2 counts domestic violence, both misdemeanors, and abduction, a felony.

There are currently 15 female inmates and 74 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
