On 4 May 2020, Deputy Brown was dispatched to 676 Mini Storage, 20959 State Route 676, Marietta, for a report of a storage unit being entered and several items taken. The victims were missing a free-standing portable A/C unit, an antique table, and an antique bread cabinet.
Later in the day on 4 May 2020, Lt. McPeek was dispatched to the same business where two victims again reported a storage unit entered and items removed. The owners of the unit had stored a substantial amount of their property to include a TV, lockbox, washer and dryer, furniture, clothing, tools, and many other items. The value of the stolen items was approximately $30,000. The owners stated with the number of items they had stored it would have taken several trips to remove as much as was stolen.
On 3 May 2020, several subjects were observed at the building loading up items out of a storage building that later was found to be broken into. The subjects were hurrying to load the items and it appeared they were not being very careful with the items.
The Deputies identified a suspect and obtained a search warrant for the residence of Joel Andrew Johnson.

Johnson confessed to going to the storage units on at least 2 occasions. Johnson stated he was accompanied by other individuals on both occasions, and admitted to being the one that cut the lock.
In the basement of the residence, Deputies located Christopher Allen Streight, and additional stolen items were recovered. Streight initially denied any knowledge or involvement. Once Streight was advised he was being arrested; he offered to tell Deputies everything if they didn’t take him to jail. His offer was declined.
Also in the residence was Chevelle Brianne Sarver who confessed to going to the storage units on 2 occasions. Sarver stated she did not actually steal anything but did receive stolen items.
Deputies responded to another location in the Marietta area, where the subject was reported to have been involved in the break-in. Charges on that individual are pending at this time. Items stolen from the storage buildings were identified at this location and recovered.
Deputies then responded to 1025 Sandhill Road, Lot 22, Marietta, and met with Austin William Wright, Ashley Nicole Mayle, and Kaylan Renea Wallace. A search of that residence and vehicle revealed several stolen items belonging to the victims. These items were recovered. Wright and Mayle admitted to going to the storage units on one occasion but denied taking anything, claiming that other individuals brought the stolen property to their residence and left it. A search of the residence revealed additional stolen property in the bedroom of Wright and Mayle, including a lockbox that was removed from the storage buildings and was found to have the lock picked.
Upon meeting with Wallace, she admitted to going to the storage unit as well, stating she was told by other individuals about going to the storage unit and getting things. Wallace had some of the stolen items in her possession.
