WCSO NEWS RELEASES FOR 5 MAY 2020
On 29 Apr 2020 Deputy Brown responded to a report of an individual having a vehicle without authorization. Tasha Glidden stated she was at her apartment on 28 Apr 2020 with Charles Miller and after going inside returned to find her vehicle and Miller missing. Glidden was also trying to contact Miller to return the vehicle with negative results. The vehicle was later found abandoned on Montgomery Street. A summons is being requested for Charles Raymond Cody Miller, age 24, 910 Caywood Road, Marietta, OH, on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
On 29 Apr 2020 Deputy McConnell responded to Beverly to a report of a vehicle taken without authorization. Upon meeting with the individual, they had recovered the vehicle on their own and did not wish to pursue any type of charges. This case will be marked closed.
On 30 Apr 2020 Deputy Painter was dispatched to Wynncrest Drive, Marietta, OH, to a report of a lady being disorderly. Deputy Painter met with Jacqueline Steele and noted she was intoxicated, as she was unsteady on her feet and slurring her words. Steele had admitted to arguing with the juvenile(s), and admitted to her drinking. Jacqueline Darlene Steele, age 31, 505 Wynncrest Drive, Marietta, OH, was summoned into court for disorderly conduct by intoxication.
On 1 May 2020, Deputy Holbert responded to conduct a theft investigation. After having the item returned to the business they did not wish to pursue charges. This case is closed.
On 2 May 2020 Deputy Hockenberry and Sgt. Parks were at the Hickory Grove Convenience Store on State Route 339 when they were advised of a male at the gas pumps who may be impaired. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on State Route 339 after the gentleman left the business. The driver, Glenn Martin, stated he did not have a license to drive. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected, as well as his eyes being bloodshot and glassy. When asked if he had been drinking this date Martin looked towards the cup holder in his vehicle, which contained an open can of beer. Martin was not able to complete standard field sobriety tests as he was swaying. Martin was transported for a BAC and tested .184. Glenn Craig Martin, age 60, 711 State Route 124, Hockingport, OH, was transported to the Washington County Jail where he was charged with OVI, speed, and no driver’s license.
On 3 May 2020 Lt. Hunter began an investigation in reference to a theft from a camper. This case remains under investigation.

Cody Allen Carpenter, age 30, 515 Taylor Avenue, Cambridge, OH, parole violation, and illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse, both felonies.
Joanie Danielle Gildow, age 40, 530 High Street, Macksburg, OH, domestic violence, a misdemeanor.
Cody Dale Smarr, age 26, 225 Stone Road, Belpre, OH, resisting arrest and probation violation, both misdemeanors.
There are currently 11 female inmates and 52 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
