Special News Release 14 Apr 2020
On 14 Apr 2020 at approximately 4:27 a.m. Sgt. L Parks and Deputy Hockenberry were on patrol completing a business check at Family Ford. Deputies noticed a male running away from the vehicles parked at the business. Deputies were able to observe what the subject was wearing as he ran through the parking lot towards nearby apartments. A bag was located near a vehicle with items inside that matched the name of the vehicle’s registered owner. Marietta PD K-9 was requested and a track was completed. Deputies located the male subject trying to conceal himself beside a large tree. The male, identified himself as Isaak Stoltzfus, and denied running from the business parking lot. After canvassing the area where the male was observed, Deputies located a bag containing numerous criminal tools, i.e. wire cutters, pliers, etc. Deputies determined that an active warrant was on file out of Cherokee County, North Carolina on charges of breaking & entering and larceny. Isaak Christian Stoltzfus, age 31, 142 Cherry Street, Andrews, NC, was placed under arrest for theft, a 4th degree felony, and possession of criminal tools, a 5th degree felony. Stoltzfus was also charged with begin a fugitive from justice.
Lt. Gherke conducted a traffic stop nearby on a U-Haul vehicle which was involved in this investigation. The vehicle was driven by Jennifer Helton, who admitted to living in the truck with Isaak Stoltzfus. A consent to search was obtained for the vehicle. Deputies located several identification cards, social security and credit cards belonging to different individuals out of West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Helton was advised that she was going to be arrested and was asked if she had anything on her person that she should not have; Helton admitted to having drugs in her sock. Three baggies and a black container were located in Helton’s sock. The container was found to contain suspected methamphetamine. Jennifer Joy Helton, age 38, 142 Cherry Street, Andrews, NC, was placed under arrest and charged with receiving stolen property, a 4th degree felony, and possession of drugs, a 5th degree felony. Both Stoltzfus and Helton were transported to the Washington County Jail for processing; both are being held without bond and will appear in Marietta Municipal Court on 15 Apr 2020.
