The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a

  • Flood Warning for…
    Southeastern Athens County in southeastern Ohio…
    Eastern Morgan County in southeastern Ohio…
    Washington County in southeastern Ohio…
  • Until 915 AM EST Thursday.
  • At 1230 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated prolonged rainfall across
    the area. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the
    warning area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches have fallen and the rain
    is expected to continue much of the night. Additional rainfall
    amounts of 0.5 inches will be possible overnight.
    Some locations that will experience flooding include…
    Marietta, Belpre, St. Marys, McConnelsville, Beverly, Coolville,
    Vienna, Williamstown, Belmont, Boaz, Newport, Matamoras, Lowell,
    Stockport, Bristol, Macksburg, Lower Salem, Devola, Fleming and
    Hackney.
    Sharp rises have occurred in area waterways such as Duck Creek at
    Macksburg. Rises are also occurring on the Little Muskingum, and
    additional rises on other creeks and streams will be possible.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
    Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
    deaths occur in vehicles.
    Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
    dangers of flooding.
