OH Organized Crime Investigations Special News Release 9 Aug 19

An investigation by Agents of the Ohio Organized Crimes Investigations Commission, Washington Morgan Noble Major Crimes Task Force resulted in two arrests.

On 8 Aug 19 Agents, along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team,  executed a search warrant at a local motel/hotel in Marietta, Ohio.

Agents made contact with Shawn Gates Jr. and Taylor Parker inside the room.  Gates did not comply with orders given by Officers and resisted arrest.  A paper fold of white powder, suspected of being heroin, was located near where Gates was arrested.  1”x1” baggies were located in Parker’s purse along with cash in Parker’s waistband.  Parker could not explain where the currency came from but stated it was hers.  Multiple 1”x1” bags had been discarded in the trash can.

Shawn Allen Gates Jr., age 21, lka: 132 W. Crosier Street, Akron,  OH, was placed under arrest on 3 outstanding warrants, and trafficking in heroin, a 4th-degree felony.  Upon arrival at the  Washington County Jail, Gates admitted to swallowing an unknown item.

Taylor McKenna Parker, age 24, lka: 1055 Berwin Street, Akron, OH,  was placed under arrest for possession of criminal proceeds, a 5th-degree felony.  After arriving at the Washington County Jail, Parker voluntarily surrendered a small bag containing suspected marijuana that she had concealed on her person.

Parker and Gates appeared in Marietta Municipal Court and Gates received a $7,500 bond, however, has no bond for the Summit County charges.  Parker is under a $5,000 bond.

The Washington Morgan Noble Major Crimes Task Force is part of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yosts Organized Crime Investigation Commission and is comprised of representatives of Post 84 of the Ohio State Highway Patrol; Washington, Morgan and Noble County Sheriff’s Offices; the Marietta, Belpre and McConnelsville Police Departments; and the Washington, Morgan and Noble County Prosecutor’s Office.
