On 26 Jul 19 we asked for help from the community in identifying the individuals that were responsible for the robbery at the Marathon Station, Beverly, Ohio.  Since that time two subjects have been arrested and charged with 1st degree felony aggravated robbery.
On 5 Jul 19 Deputies were patrolling in Beverly, Ohio, when a subject approached Sgt. Holbert advising the Marathon had just been robbed at gunpoint.   Deputies and Detectives responded and were advised that a male approached the counter and pointed a handgun in the clerk’s face demanding money from the register.  The clerk gave the money to the male and he exited the store.  Surveillance footage showed the robber wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a bandanna over his face.  Detectives also learned that another individual had dropped the subject off and waited in a white early 2000’s model Chevrolet S10.
During the course of the investigation, Michael Estee and Edward Haynes were developed as suspects.
On 7/29/19 Detectives located and interviewed Edward Haynes, who confessed to being the subject in the hooded sweatshirt and bandanna who committed the robbery.  The weapon was recovered, however, Haynes stated he destroyed the clothing he was wearing. Edward Haynes confirmed Michael Estee was the individual who waited in the white S10 while he robbed the store.
Edward James Haynes, age 28, 388 Mechanic Street, Macksburg, OH, was placed under arrest for aggravated robbery and transported to the Washington County Jail where he remains pending his appearance in Marietta Municipal Court.  Haynes appeared in court and is now being held on $250,000 bond.
Detectives located the white S10 at Estee’s residence in Guernsey County. Estee was interviewed and admitted to his involvement. Detectives requested and received a warrant for aggravated robbery through Marietta Municipal Court for the arrest of Michael J. Estee, 304 High Street, Senecaville, OH.  Estee was taken into custody by the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office and held in their facility.
