WCSO NEWS RELEASES FOR 9 APR 19
On 29 Mar 19 the Kentucky Parole Board contacted WCSO requesting a warrant attempt at 1917 State Route 550, Bartlett, OH, for Kyle J. Cobb, age 29. The warrant was for parole violation. Deputies made contact with Cobb and verified he was the individual wanted by the State of Kentucky. A charge of fugitive from justice was filed on Cobb by Lt. Augenstein. Cobb was transported to the Washington County Jail for processing.
On 29 Mar 19 Deputy Young was on patrol in Lawrence Township when he observed a vehicle stopped in the roadway. The driver, Stacy Ray Robinson Sr., was asked if everything was okay and upon speaking with Robinson, an odor of alcohol was detected about his person. Robinson was unable to complete the field sobriety tests. Robinson, age 51, 5355 State Route 26, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest for OVI and transported to the Washington County Jail for processing. Robinson tested .193 BAC.
On 29 Mar 19 at approximately 2320 hrs. Deputy Kehl was advised of an assault at the Washington County Jail. Based on the information received during the investigation, Deputy Kehl filed assault charges on Nathaniel D. Crites, age 34, 25 Gawthrop Lane, Clarksburg, WV.
On 30 Mar 19 Deputy A McConnell was on patrol when she observed a vehicle driving without headlights. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Hannah Nicole Beha, was advised why she was stopped. Deputy McConnell detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her person and Beha advised she had a couple drinks. Beha, age 25, 185 Westwood Way, Washington, WV, performed poorly on the standard field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for OVI and transported to the Washington County Jail for processing. Beha submitted to a breath test with the result being .155 BAC.
On 30 Mar 19 information was received that a vacant residence in New Matamoras had been entered. Witnesses observed a bicycle in the yard at the house and it had been there all morning. Sgt. Johnson along with other Deputies responded to the scene and Lt. Hornbeck made entry into the house and located Nicholas D. Boley. Nicholas D. Boley, age 34, 1004 Grandview Avenue, Lot A, New Matamoras, OH, was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with one count of breaking and entering.
On 30 Mar 19 Sgt. Johnson and Deputy A McConnell responded to 165 Cornerstone Drive, Marietta, Ohio in reference to Brett Edwards refusing to leave the residence. Edwards was asked to leave several times and refused. After completing the investigation it was determined that Edwards would be arrested for trespassing. Upon attempting to place cuffs on Edwards he attempted to flee and resisted being cuffed. Brett S. Edwards, age 29, was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with resisting arrest and trespassing.
On 31 Mar 19 Deputy Young began an investigation in reference the theft of money from a residence during a card game. After conducting the investigation and making contact with the Law Director’s Office it was determined that no charges would be filed in this case. This case is marked closed.
On 31 Mar 19 Deputy J McConnell along with other Deputies, responded to a residence on State Route 7, Marietta, Ohio, in an attempt to locate and arrest Christopher R. Ledger on an active arrest warrant. Ledger was located inside the residence and was taken into custody. Ledger was found to have syringes and a small baggie with a white crystal-like substance on his person. Ledger, age 28, 29385 E Belpre Pike Road, Coolville, Ohio, was arrested on 2 active warrants and transported to the Washington County Jail for processing. Ledger was also charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drugs.
On 1 Apr 19 Deputy White began an investigation in Marietta Township in reference to stolen checks from a mailbox and fraudulent charges on the same bank account. This case remains under investigation.
On 1 Apr 19 at approximately 2326 hours, Deputy White was dispatched to 22755 State Route 339, Waterford Township to a report of cattle in the roadway. Witnesses reported a cow running on the road on State Route 339 towards a vehicle, which was almost struck. Deputy Hall had previously been to this location regarding cattle getting out from the farm owned by William Maghes. A summons will be requested for William T. Maghes, 40731 Dugan Road, McConnelsville, Ohio, for animals at large.
On 5 Apr 19 at approximately 1530 hours a dog belonging to Karen Hicks, 706 Tick Ridge Road, Vincent, Ohio, ran loose from the property. Hick’s dog went onto a neighbor’s property and chased their animal. A summons is being requested for Karen Renee Hicks, age 41, for failing to restrain her dog.
On 8 Apr 19 at approximately 1030 hours, Gilbert Rowley, 271 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, Ohio, let his standard poodle outside, unrestrained, as he did frequently. Rowley’s dog went onto the neighbor’s property and bit a delivery person, leaving several puncture wounds on the victim. Rowley’s dog was designated dangerous as this was an unprovoked incident and Rowley was explained in detail how he must restrain his dog from this point on. Sgt. McGilton determined that Rowley owned two other dogs and none of the dogs were registered. A summons is being requested for Gilbert L. Rowley, age 76, for failing to restrain his standard poodle and failing to register three dogs.
