February 12, 2019

On 11 Feb 19 Deputies Jones and McKee were dispatched to Hazelwood Drive, Marietta, Ohio, to a report of an active fight. It was reported that Ashley Mayle was assaulted at this residence by Austin Wright. Dispatch was advised that Wright was busting out the window in Mayle’s car and Mayle was bleeding. Deputies arrived and discovered Mayle was talking to the subject that was calling 911, and she (Mayle) was exaggerating most of the incident. Wright and Mayle stated they were only arguing back and forth, and no acts of violence or threats were made. Ashley Nicole Mayle, age 28, 116 Lincoln Road, Marietta, and Austin William Wright, age 29, 200 Walnut Drive, Whipple, OH, are both being summoned into Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of disorderly conduct.
On 12 Feb 19 Sgt. McGilton requested a warrant be issued through Marietta Municipal Court for Charles Brian Davis, age 43, 2905 Beeman Road, Washington, WV, on 2 counts passing bad checks and 3 counts of forgery. In December 2018 a report was taken at the Caywood Christmas Tree Farm, Caywood Road, Marietta, OH, where Davis had written 2 checks from a closed account. Sgt. McGilton met with Davis who advised he did not know the account was closed when he wrote those checks. Davis further stated there would be more checks coming back insufficient funds and he had not made contact with those businesses to make proper payment. Upon further investigating, Sgt. McGilton found numerous checks written to various vendors in the area, and surrounding areas, after the account(s) were closed. Contact was again made with Davis, advising him of what the investigation revealed. Davis admitted to writing all of these checks in question. Sgt. McGilton found Davis to be a sub-contractor and upon reviewing certificates of liability insurance, found that this was a forgery, and he, nor his company, had insurance through the company he reported. The American Welding Society qualification record Davis provided appeared as if it had been homemade, due to formatting. Three subjects listed on the form were not recognized or known by the American Welding Society, with them stating the record was falsified. After making contact with the WV Licensing Board in reference to a contractor’s license, Sgt. McGilton was told that Davis’ license was removed by the board in which he was ordered to surrender the license in 2014.
On 12 Feb 19 a 911 call was received stating a male subject was non-responsive inside a vehicle on Second Street, Macksburg, Ohio. The male, later identified as Trent Mason was purple in color and not responding, and that possibly this was an overdose. Deputies along with the United EMS responded to the scene. Witnesses were administering aid to Mason upon EMS arriving and Mason was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital. While at the scene, located in plain view in Mason’s vehicle was a bag of suspected methamphetamine, along with other items consistent with narcotics use. Due to the number of units responding to this emergency, Trent Dwight Mason, age 30, 511 Ferguson Street, Marietta, OH, will be charged with inducing panic. (1117)
