OHIO SENATE BILL 81

CCLUPDATE

Effective November 5th, 2018, Ohio’s county sheriffs are able to waive concealed carry fees for active and former members of the United States Armed Forces. This fee waiver is applied to initial and renewal applications. Qualified applicants include active, reserve, retired, or those who were honorably discharged from military service. Also, veterans with proof of current or prior service are exempt from concealed carry training that is required for a concealed carry license. Veterans are exempt from the 90-day renewal requirement and may renew at any time.

The Ohio Attorney General is required to monitor the amount of waived payments. Once the total amount waived reaches $1.5 million for the entire state of Ohio, county sheriffs may no longer waive payments for the remainder of the year.

Please bring your DD214 or current military identification between Monday and Friday from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm to apply or renew your concealed carry.

Sheriff Mincks and the entire Washington County Sheriff’s Office thanks those who have served and those who are currently serving our great nation.
