New Matamoras Man charged with Burglary


On 7 Oct 18 Lt. Gherke and Sgt. Johnson responded to 1453 State Route 260, New Matamoras, Ohio, to a report of a subject pounding on a door with a brick.  Merwin, Karla, and Derek Griffin reside at this home and were all home when this took place at approximately 0645 hours.

While Deputies were en route, the Griffins called back and advised the subject broke in through a window and was now in the house being held at gunpoint.

Deputies arrived and found Timothy Logan Michael Howell in the living room of the home and placed Howell under arrest.  The Griffins stated that Howell threw a crock through the front window and then came in through the broken window.  The Griffins stated Howell was acting somewhat strange at the time of this incident, stating people were after him.  Deputies were unable to locate any other individuals in the area.

Howell, age 29, LKA: 41 Dunn Lane, New Matamoras, Ohio, was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with a 4th-degree felony burglary. Howell was also served with warrants for disorderly conduct out of Marietta Municipal Court and contempt of court and possession of drugs out of Noble County, Ohio.

Howell appeared in Marietta Municipal Court and remains incarcerated on $10,250 bond on all charges.
