Death Investigation Leads to Drug Charges in New Matamoras

On 10 Sep 18 a search warrant was obtained and executed at the home of Mary Sidel, 817 Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras, Ohio.
On 9 Sep 18 medical personnel were called 606 Front Street, New Matamoras, Ohio, to a possible deceased male. Michael C. Smith, age 48, was located and determined to be deceased. Montgomery County Coroner’s Office will be handling the autopsy.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Road Deputies responded and located numerous syringes and other drug paraphernalia. An uncapped syringe was located near the body along with a bag of suspected heroin.
Investigators arrived at 817 Grandview Avenue, the home of Mary Sidel, Crystal Slonaker and Arron Lasure. Lasure and Slonaker fled the scene upon law enforcement arriving. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of State Route 7 and Grandview Avenue. Syringes were located in the vehicle along with new and used baggies. Slonaker was found to have 16 Buspirone pills and a Lyrica tablet, which she does not have a prescription for.
The search at the home revealed contraband in the form of drug kits, burnt foil with residue and baggie of white powder.
Crystal Leann Slonaker, age 32, 817 Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras, was arrested for possession of drug abuse instruments, M1, possession of a controlled substance M1 and trafficking in drugs, F5. Slonaker appeared in Marietta Municipal Court and is being held on a $12,000 bond.
Arron Eugene Lasure, age 38, 817 Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras, was arrested for possession of drug abuse instruments M1 and trafficking in drugs F5.
Mary Ann Sidel, age 52, 817 Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras, was arrested for permitting drug abuse F5. Sidel appeared in Marietta Municipal Court and is being held on a $5,000 bond.
